Appealing to a large audience is difficult at best and highly competitive. If you let your "blammed" content de-motivate you, you will never get far... you have to persevere and pay very close attention to the few comments that you do get... some of them may reveal specific areas of where you need to improve.
Keep at it! Just remember that EVERYONE sucked at art at one point. Good artists are actually consistent of bad artists that didn't quit.
