Does anyone still use E-mail?

I mean I don't know it seems to be getting obsolete to me these days. I mean like mostly communication wise. Nowadays people use Facebook PM or some other system.

I'm talking like Yahoo, AOL, or Gmail.

Only reason I use my e-mail adress is to register for certain sites. What about you?

We obviously do, some people use it too keep in touch, plus you need an email to sign up for sites.

I still kinda use it. All I really get anymore is spam, but every once in a while I'll get something worth clicking on.

my sent mail on gmail is pretty long, 3000+ emails in the past 2 years or so

i prefer instant messenger or texting but email is alright if you want to write something long to someone who may not be able to respond instantly

I use my e-mail, but ever since I got a facebook, It has been clogged w/ "YOU HAS 999 FRIEND REQUESTS"

None of you guys have had an office job before. Email is constantly used at my job as a means of mass communication. I receive my lesson plans daily via email. I have to send our evaluation forms for my teaching assistant via email. I have to request additional office and classroom supplies via email. I have to check conference meeting times via email. I have to wipe my ass via email.

Yeah. Personally email is pretty dead, but in the workplace it is essential.

Of course people use email. I use Gmail for signing up for special offers on reward sites, getting newsletters I actually want, chatting with people in countries with too big of a time difference for us to IM, or to jot things down to people when I can't wait until they get online. For everything else I use Facebook (just for chat), AIM, Yahoo, and MSN from Meebo, and Skype. Also for sending files, NG Dump is useful but depending on what I'm sending I may use good old-fashioned attachments.

I have friends in my age group who ONLY use E-mail and refuse social networking sites. They even prefer it to phones.

And once you venture into the corporate world E-mail is still standard fare. My mom, for instance, communicates about work DAILY, dozens of times a day with "the e-mail."

I'm not a teacher but email is just as important to my job, if not more so.

We distribute press releases via email
Receive briefs from our clients via email
Contact journalists via email
Book venues via email
Send status reports via email
Receive coverage alerts via email
etc. etc.

Email is definitely not dead guys.

I have to use it every day in college seeing as that's how the professors assign homework and let the students know whats going on, I get around 10 non-junk emails a day.
