Not another world end question? 2011-03-21 22:51:14 Reply

I know, I know. Everyone is tired of the "the world is going to end" stuff, but I still wanted to ask. So, let's say by the time you wake up from your sleep... SURPRISE! The world is ending... but has anyone thought of the END being the actual never ending cycle of life of planet Earth?

The "end" had always been there from the very beginning?

If you think life is never ending then you've got a lot to learn.

Physics dictates that life anywhere in the universe will only exist for so long, and the universe will be here long after all life everywhere is extinct, and in the end, there will be nothing.

We're discussing life, not the existence of matter.

Either way, none of us will ever live to see the end of the human species.

life is matter, your a lump of fat ( your brain ) that has a body independent of essentially what you are, thats made to move you from the places to get nourishment, and, mate, and all other inherent qualitys of how you look where the result of selective mating, if your features helped you get food or survive better you mated, if your caveman ancestor had pretty eyes, he got more cave pussy, but he was still just a lump of fat in a skull, so youre whole statement to me is argumentative nonesense with little thought, atleast im argumentative with a point underlying somewhere

life is matter,....

How come when I throw your brain into a blender, it stops living? All the matter is still there, right?

it doesnt, the brain stops living, what about all the electricity inside of it, and lets go further, ok, so my brains chopped up, now what, do you bury it and have worms eat it and live, do you flush it and have fish eat it and live, or do you leave it there, and have bacteria live off of it, either way im substantiating life, and if every reaction has an opposite and equal reaction, and the reaction is life, surely i have to be there in some for to make the action, correct?

...maybe each planet. or star, in a distant future will transform itself into a new "Earth", thus repeating the cycle. Possible? idk...

That may be true, but all of that life you mentioned is already pre-existing. The worms would have eaten something else if not your brain, the fish too, and the bacteria as well. If I throw your blended brain into space, it's gone. The reason that life cannot be equated to matter is that life can be destroyed.

Well, before you get on your high horse and start throwing insults with a good dose of smug arrogance, I'm just gonna mention that life without conciousness is basically nothing but matter. Matter is not life. You're right in suggesting that matter is essential to life, I wont dispute that. All I'm saying is that matter is not equal to life. Matter wont cease to exist, but conciousness will, and all that will be left is inanimate matter. Not life.

Wrong.
Alternative scenario: asteroid the size of mars hits the earth, everything dies. Life in this part of the universe stops for good.
P.S. stop abusing Newton's third law.

Yup, Sol doing a nova and without it the planet will freeze.

"sol" is too small to "do a nova"

uncertainty

your brain isn't powerful enough, senses are too limited to perceive and process all signals even with instruments that are extensions of the senses. how do you find the all the answers then
