In my opinion, since I have already found exactly what I want to do in life, school is pretty much useless except for showing employers that you can waste 4 - 8 years of your life not learning, and you get hired for it.
I'd rather get on my computer and just better my programming skills and drop out of school. But I won't be able to get a good job without one. Oh thank you America :P

I get just teachers throwing a lot of work at me, giving me only 5 minutes to complete them all, then scold me like a little boy, "Why didn't you complete your work?"

Well, beyond the obvious implications of the stuff you're learning, school basically just teaches you how to learn how to do something, even if you aren't interested in the subject.

That says to employers: even when he didn't care about what was being taught, he still was capable of working hard enough to learn the material. Your grades tell them how well.

Anyway, if you're serious... just take your GED and apply to college.

But if you want to get into any good major college, you stick it out. Especially if you want to go into sciences.

Unless, of course, you're one of the those freakin' prodigies, in which case more power to you.

Learning and social skills. Some good times, and chances to meet good friends and hot girls. School gives you a lot actually; if you try to take what you can get from it and don't just sleep the whole time.

School is one of the greatest places a young person gets to go to, and again, one of the greatest times of his life. Think about it: it's easy, you get to work out, it's free (so to speak), bolsters your learning abilities and increases your functional knowledge, and it's a damn good time. Cherish these years.

What did I get from it? A sturdy education upon which to build a future and a drive to succeed. You'll do fine.

Also, it's very funny to me that 100 years ago, if you didn't want to do school, you quit and worked on the farm or went into the city and worked in a factory. Now, if you don't want to do school, you quit and work on computers or go into the city and work at a random store.

The way I see it, school / college gives the skills that you need to get a higher paying job, and ultimately, a better quality of life because of it.

If only that alone was enough to get anywhere these days...

I've been looking for a job for 18 months now, and every damn time an application fails it's the same reason: Someone more experienced got the job.
I spent 18 years of my life in education (the last 6 of which were entirely optional), only to be told at the end of it that the one thing I don't have (read: experience) is the only thing any employer cares about right now.

Education is overrated, IMO. Yes, you're fucked without one, but at the same time, it doesn't guarantee you a damn thing either.

school is baby siting, cuz women wanted jobs, and men need to know more shit but did not wanna teach shit.
So they buildings of nasty looking women to bitch at kids, and educate them in things they will never use in real life after gr.3.

But society need us to be educated, but why cant i do it online, everything? Or why does any1 need school for a job they can already fully do? Why need credentials when one has self proof of their work.

School should be for the people that dont know shit.

School just introduces you to the basics of the subjects that you want to learn about and pursue in your life. For the subjects that you don't care about, it's mostly just a test of effort and hard work that colleges want to see.

Social Interaction is one of the primary aims

A Social Introvert serves no real purpose to the goals of the majority

You only don't learn in school if you choose not to and decide instead to whine and complain about the little things that piss you off because you're massively angsty.

School helps develop problem solving skills, working in groups, and generally fosters the kind of work ethic needed at the college and workplace level. At least it should but with the kind of work they let kids pass with these days I can't even say that much.

My school gave me a a real world, live, example of corruption and hierarchy. I've seen everything from teacher's lying about what a student has done to increase their punishments, to out right disrespecting them beyond what they deserved. Hell I even learned that if enough staff members don't like you at a school, they will bend the rules to kick you out and get rid of you.

When I was going to my school I wasn't the best kid I admit, but I wasn't the worse. The school one day called my mom in to talk about my grades and they suggested I go to an alternative school. I told them I would only go to one alternative school, and this one in particular there was I believe a 50 student waiting list. The lady speaking to us stressed on the fact that I would have to wait a while to be accepted, that there were many students who wanted to go there, but I told her if its not that school I'm not going. The next day I came in and guess what, I was at the top of the list.

There was also the time my mom got cancer over summer break, while she was being treated there was a letter sent to us that was required in order for me to be able to attend my school, seeing as I was out of district. Anyways we weren't aware of this for obvious reasons so when I went to go pay the fee's for the upcoming school year we were told I wasn't allowed to attend.

We explained to the people the circumstances and they told me it didn't matter. I could tell this was a personal thing because the lady at the desk, who I hadn't seen in a couple of years, claimed she knew for a fact my name was on the list of kids who weren't allowed to attend that school district. After that they also explained all the credits I earned the previous year didn't count.

It appears you don't know shit, and must go to school to learn it.

Gen Ed sucks, I'll give you that, I can't stand my math classes, abhor history, and I think my speech teacher is a cunt.

HOWEVER... how the hell do you think the majority of the population obtains their job skills? Doctors didn't just wake up one day, youtube an open heart surgery, and then decide they were educated. Sure, if your life goal is to be the manager of McDonalds, fine, go ahead and drop out of Highschool.

More money for me.

You also learn the moral values of friendship. honesty, and hard work. Also I find getting a GED kind of sad in my area. I see a lot of kids drop out when they turn 16 because they don't like homework sadly. They never get their GED either. Although getting it in my area requires having not been in school for six months before you can get a GED.

Compulsory education is essential for creating and maintaining a well-functioning society.
If you apply for a job and the employer sees that you got decent grades in a number of subjects that are fairly unrelated to the job you're looking for, it proves that you can apply yourself to different tasks when necessary.

When you're in a workplace environment, there's a lot more to the day than just doing one single job; there are times where you have to apply your knowledge and experience of other subjects to do what needs to be done.

I'd rather get on my computer and just better my programming skills and drop out of school. But I won't be able to get a good job without one.

Of course. Getting good grades is hard evidence that you're right for the job. Any idiot could turn up to a job interview and claim to be a computer genius.

People talking about me behind my back, teachers I have perverted thoughts about, three cool friends who still attend that place, stuff I already know, new stuff I don't know, a friend I feel a bit uneasy hanging around, having to go to PAL for lunch and I don't like that place, a douchebag principal, a bitchy assistant principal, and jokes made by me and my friends (a lot are dick jokes).

Just call me Psycho for short.

It shows how dedicated you can be, how adaptive you are, and how resourceful you can be. It's also years of learning opportunities given to you for free. On top of that, it's the opportunity to gain contacts for networking that may be valuable in the future. Buy hey, school sucks and is a useless waste of time right? Grow up kid.

It's so much freaking cheaper that way! Just make sure that the 4 year school accepts the transcripts from the community school

Notice the word good. Good. Yes, good.

Transferring from community into a good major college is extremely hard due to competition.

Hm, community college student with basic edu courses vs 5 AP course high school student?

Yeah, that's a level of competition for any top 30 school, maybe top 40.

Or you go to your community college, get a kick-ass GPA and associates for less than the cost of housing at said 'good major college'. Then you transfer.
