May 21 2011 marks the end according

CNN aren't actually saying the world will end on the 21st of May. They're just saying that some people think the world will end on the 21st of May.

Also, I love religious groups who haven't realised that it's better to say the world will end "soon" rather than tie yourself down to a specfic date.

I don't think that the article is saying that the vans are from CNN, if that's what you mean. When it says, "It's a mid-winter morning in Jacksonville, Florida, when CNN joins this faithful caravan," it means that they're following the caravan with video coverage, not being a part of it. They're just reporting.

Anyways, I don't know what to think about this group. Although it's understandable that they would go to extreme efforts to warn the people, I think that the fact that it's going to do more harm than good is something that they should take into consideration. If the people took what they said seriously, then the outcome would be more on the end of mass hysteria than mass confession. I suppose they're willing to make that sacrifice for the cause, but I don't know.

It also seems like they haven't put a lot of thought into what will happen if, come May 22, the world isn't ending. They said that they didn't want to think about doubting the bible, but I think that if you're going to leave your life, give away all your possessions, travel around the country in vans and warn the population in a way that may incite hysteria from those who believe you, then that's something that you definitely need to think critically about.

Everyone wants to see the proof there's something after death before they die to reassure them. They want to be apart of the bigger picture. So they are fascinated with being apart of such an event.
