We'd be living on Mars by now if religion didn't exist.

How could I what?
I'm not trying to be edgy or anything, and it's most likely the aftermath of 9/11 that makes me see a propeller and wings but really I do. I can't think how anyone can look at that photo and not see the same thing.

Religion: Good, probably the only reason society is at the point it is today. In times past where people simply didn't have access to logic and needed a divine reason to go on building society, a reason to get up every time they fell (and societies did fall. A lot. Hard).
Religious Extremism: Bad. Caused Wars, killed people, and is still doing the same fucking thing it was doing 2000 years ago - getting people killed at worst, contributing absolutely nothing good to the world at best. Muslim extremists, Catholic extremists, they all suck.
That picture isn't entirely correct, because one could argue that if religion didn't exist right now we wouldn't even have gotten to the point where we could build buildings that high.
But no-one likes extremists except other extremists, and even then only if they belong to the same religion.

Radicalism, discontent and violence would arise independent of religion, as it's a natural human tendency. Why would you foolishly recommend the expulsion of all religion - a positive force for billions throughout history, giving them hope and enlightenment, teaching them to do the right think. You may want to exploit the remarkable abilities of the human brain before making such hasty generalizations, which trivialize religion, a paramount influence in our history, as a solely horrific force, neglecting all the good it has rendered for so many people.
Typical simplistic atheist douche bag who has yet to gain even the fainest hint of understanding of the world.
