4.24 / 5.00 13,387 ViewsSo recently a reviewer on one of my songs pointed me to this Soundcloud profile: 'DJ Cetacea' where apparently she uploaded one of my songs. What I came to find is that she has uploaded not only my songs but a ton of other NG artists aswell.
She's made a piss poor attempt at renaming them aswell:
"The Land of Eden" -" xKore - Eden"
"Magnum" - "xKore - Magnum"
"Video Mode" - "xKore - Beast Mode" (LMAO)
"The Room" - "DJ Bjra - The Room Dubstep"
I recognize a few more, but can't name them off them top of my head atm.
What gets me is that she's attracting alot of view and comments on music that isn't hers, and that apparently she's been featured in a few mix magazines as some kind of up and coming artist. Someone tweeted to me that she may have been making money from this in one way or another, which may make this serious fucking business.
So NG producers, mainly dubstep producers, check to see if your stuff has been stolen by her.
I haven't really got a plan of action as of yet, I was kind of hoping that that would be discussed here before engaging in anything, just as to make sure.
FYI:
Her twitter page (6000+ fucking followers)
Her djlist page
These are the only prominent profile pages I could find.
I recognize almost all of the works. I only really recognize the dubstep enough to know the authors, but I'm certain it's almost all fake, and almost all from NG. Either way, this person isn't giving credit to anyone and needs to be dealt. Commercial or no-commercial.
Wow, she didn't even have the conscious though to change most of the titles. Truly lame.
The Main Thing is to keep the Main, Thing the Main Thing.

And dumb. And how has she gotten away with this so long and become so popular? How has no one noticed this?!
are there any mods on soundcloud that you can contact or something like that?
anyways thats really dumb, that person is not even trying to be sly about it either :/ just really obvious, hope this person is brought to justice
I've contacted her and posted on all her pages listed here. Shameful as hell
I think part of the reason why people haven't realized this yet is partly because none of the download links for the songs on her page are enabled, so people would never have know that any of it was originally none profit, and would assume it was legitimate. And most of the most recognizable ones were only made a few days ago, and the earliest being just over a month ago.
Also, I couldn't help but cry when I saw one of the comments on the most recent submission: "You are too legit."

this is just terrible Matt....
WHAT A FUCKING BITCH SHE IS
We need to do something because if she is getting money from this, this can get really nasty, you know you can count on us Matt, I'll check all of her audio to see if i can recognize from who is she stealing this.
That really sucks, i know how you feel! =/ Tried to look in their help forums
for Stolen music/ report. but can't find anything =/
Absolutely Unacceptable. Little faggots running around and stealing music, then parading it around like they are the best producers ever. That bitch even played live in front of thousands, USING OTHER PEOPLES MUSIC.
I heard her "I want that Meetball" song, thinking it was my old Dubstep song. Turns out it was centuries better than mine, but now I'm overwhelmingly sad for whoever actually made it.
I tried to browse through all of her songs on Soundcloud, but I became too frustrated with all of the familiar tracks.
Someone (one of the artists affected) needs to put together a cease and desist. There's no other acceptable action here. Maybe the affected musicians can band together and hire a lawyer. The NG response of spamming pages isn't what's appropriate here.

click on the track title that takes you to the track/comments page,
on the right there's a "report copyright infringement " link
get clicking...

I think we can do both if approached appropriately.
Nobody should be spamming things like 'you dirty bitch you steal music go die!'--even if you'd like to.
More like "This artists has been proven to be stealing and taking credit from other artists. Please do not support this."

Thanks! =]
If only we had an NG-Audio-protect forum with 1000+ active NG members,
spamming "This is stolen from Newgrounds" when someone steals music from our world.
also i'll just leave this here
Cetacea does not use computers to make her music. She claims anyone can make music with a computer, but if you want to play live for a crowd, they don't want to see a DJ put down a lap top and hit play. She uses: Roland 808 & 505 workstations/sequencers, Korg keyboards, AKAI midi control system, TC Helicon voice synth, Outboard Roland sampler, and production with a Mackie pro mixing board/Albeton + Reason software.
derrp

That's what I was thinking, I will go the lawyer route once I find more substantive evidence that she may be making money from this.
I know crease and desist is the proper legal way to go, but could leaving the songs up with comments saying it's stolen and linking back to the originals be more beneficial for the artists?

Wow. The more I read into this, the more hilarious it gets. It's like she's rubbing it in our faces.
Yeah she obviously has trouble understanding what a computer is considering there are computers in all those components listed =/
I have contacted Gruntworthy's facebook page about the matter.
I don't think any sort of public claims of theft are appropriate.

We are spreading awareness of this, that is all we can do for now.
What makes me feel very bad is the idea that there's the possibility that she is not the only one that could be stealing music from all the Audiogrounders. That's one of the biggest flaws of the internet regarding music.

Because it soils their name? IF thats your reason, I think their name should be hurt for doin such a thing.
If I was the original artist (sir xkore) then yes I would agree it would be inappropriate for this action. He obviously isn't approaching the matter that way. The people who want to are doing so in their own accord and by no means represent xKore, so theres no harm his direction for doing so.
