Really, though, get a gaming computer. If you're really set on getting a console, get a PS3. If you're cheap and want to be fucked in the butt by microsoft and their shitty service, get an xbox 360. If you want something different from all of those, get a wii.

I've owned all three of these consoles and I have to say, Xbox wins for me. We still have the Wii, but it's just too different for me to enjoy it. We recently sold the PS3 for another Xbox. I think Xbox gets the label of being my favourite because the online service is far better and I just wasn't a fan of the PS3's interface. I hated that back when the PSP was released and was shocked when I found out they were going to be using it again on the PS3.

It's all personal preference at the end of the day. Just research the pros and cons of each console and make your own decision. There is no 'best choice'.

I like the PS3 the most. The Wii is fun, but there is only so much you can do with the idea before it gets old. The xbox is good. It's got a good controller layout wise, but it just feels too big and clunky for me. Not to mention that you have to pay to play online even though you already bought the game, the console, and you're paying for internet. Which is really what makes me like the PS3 more. Free internet and a better (in my opinion) controller.

Indeed discussions like these have been done to death in this forum and I doubt this particular thread is gonna bring anything new to the ever ongoing arguing about which console is better.

Like some people already said, at the end of the day it's really just a matter of personal preference. Of course there are some facts that can't be denied and some discussion about those is fine, but unfortunately console wars threads tend to turn bad very quickly.

By the way, I suggest that next time you make a thread, at least share your own personal views or some interesting throughts. Just the question 'Which is better?' isn't very discussion provoking.
