I give my NG store credits to Bjra, because he should have at least gotten in the finalists. Failing that, I simply forfeit them.

Okay, all 8 have been reviewed and posted. Congrats to all the winners and participants in this contest. I had an incredibly fun time with listening and providing feedback to everyone! I am really looking forward to future contests and the cool ideas you all bring to the table. You all make Newgrounds a wonderful community to be a part of! :)

Once again, nice work everyone! Some really surprising results I saw amongst the final rankings. I won't sound-off here, because everyone here is worthy of earning the top rank as much as all the others that participated.

I am defending bjra's position that the contest rules should have been more clear, nothing more. I apologize if you don't like what I did, but I want to ensure that we don't have this problem in future contests, and this is my effort to encourage all the great artists that didn't make it to keep participating in the contests.

By verbalizing the act of you throwing your award away, you are discounting and discrediting the whole contest. You are not helping anybody...

I greatly respect your gesture.
I have no further incentive to ever join a contest again with such lack of expertise on the judges though.

Wait wait wait, what?
How is this a problem? If anything it's a very generous and sincere form of flattery and respect amongst competitors.
I would have done the same thing.

Yeah give it to him."

Keep them for yourself man. The reason I didn't make the finalists is because I didn't follow the rules plain and simple. Although they were a little confusing, I should have caught on and followed the rules better. It was entirely my fault.
I congratulate the winners for fantastic work! I plan to participate in future contests, but the first 3 contests have been themes that I can't do. Here's to hoping for a dubstep theme, a modern newgrounds break beat video game contest, and a newgrounds trance/dance contest!
Maybe later in the year hahaha

Fourth? I'm ecstatic my minimalistic piece placed so well, and I'm glad I got to participate in a competition alongside such great musicians!

glad to see a change in attitude man :)
and yes, you didn't place becasue I think you were actually disqualified for not following the rules. It's always very hard to get your point across through rules, trying to be as specific as possible without either being too vague or too confusing. Unfortunately this is just human condition - no matter how well you may think you've explained something - people will always misinterpret it.
and yes, I am trying to make the themes more and more all encompassing now so that any and all genres can be attempted - but htat certain "qualities" will be expected to be fulfilled. Like this contest - you can make whatever you want - as long as it reminds you of st. particks day. However take that info with a grain of salt - because if someone does it BETTER than you they will gain mroe favour with judges.
And that was the problem with the last contest - with only 8 finalist being allowed it means other songs that COULD or SHOULD have made it didn't - because the ones that did adhered to the rules more. As a result it was very frustrating to see peopel complain that they felt the judges weren't experienced enough. Lets face it - not everyone will get in - you just say "oh well, at least it let me make a new song" and try again next year!
I still don't know if I will make static yearly themes or change it up as the years go by.
also as far as SNACs go (which basically just stands for secondary newgrounds audio contest) - if you have an idea for a contest - pm tom or rucklo and ask them! If you wanna make a dubstep contest and run it along the main NAC, go right on ahead! Remember that contests you made are really for things that YOU enjoy and want to see - for example I love orchestral, vg, celtic themes - so I am very willing to propose them. But Bjra, if you wanted to do one for those genres - don't hesitate to - I mean, you can follow the NAC structure if you want, or make up your own - you just need tom's approval first.

Hmm... good point, sir. Hadn't seen it that way...
Well, I'd like to offer a very sincere congratulations to the top 8. They were, indeed, quality submissions! After listening to them all, I felt a very genuine feel of space like themes. Thanks for the nostalgic entries, folks!
While we're on the topic of qualifying/disqualification, may I ask if mine was of that case? Not looking for praise, just wondering if I should make the same effort and rule structure with this NAC or not.
Additionally, I should mention I'm looking forward to this NAC's submissions, and competeting myself. Using the wife as consultant, being Irish an all. :p

actually no. Yours was wonderful, brilliant even. However it was MUCH too short, and was thus pushed down in priority by the other submissions whos qualifications placed them higher.
I was bitterly disappointed when the sweeper judges didn't let it pass but I also understood why. If you had made it longer I think it would have definiteyl placed - it sent shivers down my spine listening to it- so good job man! It was probably my personal favourite - just wish it had been longer :)
