set it back into place, put a splint on, crutches/air cast if needed, antibiotics/pain meds, etc.

i have broken both of my big toes on separate occasions so i think i would know

Same thing happened to me a little while ago except I was walking and I don't think I actually broke my toe. A piece of the nail came off though.

Swelling a lot, but not that bad. I was running full speed down the hallway and slipped too, but I happened to slide into the sharp corner of a shelf and it cut open the whole side of my toe as well. There was blood everywhere.

A friend of mine got into an accident and her knee was bruised. The doctor didn't take X-rays, cause it didn't look broken. Only, now they've found out that there was a fracture and it has healed the wrong way. So she's in constant pain and has a slightly malformed knee joint.
