What language is it and how do I implement a blog style posting system into my website. I want to be able to showcase my work easier without having to edit my source code every time I want to add a post.

Most of the well-known are written in PHP. You could use WordPress to begin, it's good enough for beginning users and more experienced ones. :)

Wordpress and Tumblr do the same thing, latter is more suitable for you (for artists. or just idiots).
