Is This Racist?

Calling somebody Jewish. Is it? I know some people who think it is. A Jew is a person following the Jewish religion. Therefore, A Jew/Jewish person. You all probably know that. How in the world is that racist?

Actually, the one with more vulgarity is less offensive. Especially with no context, a Jewish person could be saying it to another or it could be said as a joke under certain circumstances. The latter implies that someone is Jewish for an action that are committing. Which can only be implied to a situation where it can be inferred that someone is Jewish for what they are doing, as in, someone picks up change that fell on the ground, "Oh you're Jewish aren't you?"

I agree with this, besides, the only time you should call someone a Jew is if it's relevant or if someone ask what religion they are. Otherwise it could easily seem racist.

Thats so stupid, you can clearly see that a man is black, from the colour of his skin. You cant tell someone is Jewish without asking them. Also you've put him in a racist situation.

It would be proper to ask, "Are you Jewish, <name here>?" or "Hey, do you attend a synagogue?" yet you don't see a problem with "Oh you're Jewish aren't you?"

The word you're looking for is discrimination, which it isn't in the context you used stated it in.

Racism is discrimination based on race. So calling an African American a blackie or something like that.

Apart from the obvious "Jews aren't actually a race, fuckward" answer, you could say that it relies directly on context and wether or not the other party takes offense. Just add "no offense" to the end of the question and they can't complain.
