I only really used to mess around during break or lunch time. At my high school there was literally nothing to do during these times. The school was at 200% capacity, so all the playgrounds were full, and we weren't allowed out of school without a pass (which would only be provided if we had a legitimate reason) so we couldn't go anywhere cool. So we just passed the time by fucking around with shit.

For me it's not even a case of HAVING to be at school. I CHOOSE to be at university, and even still I find that there are classes that I don't pay much attention in. It doesn't prevent me from passing, but it definitely makes things harder when exam time comes round.

Right now I have coursework that is due in on Monday. I've done little bits of it during the previous days this week but I told myself that I'd have it done before the weekend but here I am with two days to finish it all.

I just can't change the way I look at life. I want the present to be fun, but that can mean making things harder in the future. "I'll cross that bridge when I come to it" seems to be how I view things.

I scored an A in my English exam. I write communications for international clients (e.g Coca-Cola, Samsung and Yahoo!) and my writing is published in international newspapers/magazines everyday of the week.

I can write in any style that I choose during my free-time.

We make jokes in classes all the time at uni. It gives them a bit of charm. There's a time and a place for it, and if I'm giving a mini-lecture on having your penis nailed to a plank of wood then it seems pretty relevant to throw in some quasi-childish gags along the way. Doesn't mean its lacking in being educational. Hell, I did a surprising amount of reading in advance for that talk that strayed into out-and-out sociology.

In school? Sure, we all had classes that at a lower level we just couldn't wait to drop (geography, art) and at a higher level we couldn't drop full stop (maths, DT, RE - the latter is particularly tragic, since RE could potentially be really interesting and engaging if it were pushed from a slightly different angle, however contentious). Partway, in the British system, you get useless courses like General Studies and 'key skills' that are only pushed so the college/sixth form makes a little extra cash. They're practically not meant to be taken seriously, even by the admins. We always used to go off to town during those blocks.

Don't get me wrong, I always knew that the (high school) lessons were important (maths in particular), but each student needs their own way (provided by themselves) in which to feel comfortable (something in brackets). I was always more likely to put more effort into improving a history grade over a maths grade. It wasn't so much a case of 'gloating' over a bad maths grade. More of a case of grinning and bearing it.

Some people dick around until they can't get back in, but the next semester, low and behold they're still attending. People who take it seriously get fucked over on a class here or there and can't get back in or can't get their financial aid back to finish their education. Yet the other people take no responsibility for their shit attitudes and stupidity that get them outed the first couple of times.
