When I see a woman with make up (most women unfortunately) all I see is a person painting themselves to look 'perfect' because of their own insecurities. It's like I'm not looking at the real person, I'm seeing a fake. I think part of the reason is because of make up advertising and media (they basically tell you that you're ugly in your true form), but surely you can't put all the blame on that. Women should stop being so obsessed with their exteriors.
Another thing I don't get is why they wear high heels, and to some degree, bras. Seeing somebody put themselves in uncomfortably clothing to appear 'sexier' makes me lose so much respect for them.
You answered your own question, they want to look sexier/ feel insecure. Other times they, "want to feel pretty." Other than that, there is no real reason.
To compete with other women, look sexy. Hurr durr derpa derp derp, why do men exercise and wear nice clothes?

That way they look as cheap and artificial as they really are.
I see girls who wear makeup all the time, that stuff is bad for there face though, they might as well rub cleanex mixed with paint thinner on their face to look beatifull
it has something to do with protecting their skin from the heat in the kitchen

To attract their gay lovers?

You can say that about a lot of basic hygiene. Why should we shave, cut our hair, spot cream etc. if they all give us this mask.
hello

Men exercise to keep fit and healthy, they're simply improving their natural form. That's the opposite of applying make-up to yourself. It isn't healthy and it masks your natural form. And putting on a nice shirt is entirely different to spending an hour painting yourself in a mirror.

But they can actually have logical reasons behind them, for example, people shave because it might be necessary for them to do so at their place of work. I get my hair cut when it begins to be an inconvenience to me. Though obviously, doing those things is altering your natural form, applying make up just seems a lot faker to me.

Even shaving for a job is putting on a mask and placing a new persona upon yourself - every human does it. You're contradicting yourself by saying "inconvenience" justifies cutting your hair, but it's not exactly necessary and it alters peoples visual perspective on you - just like make up.
There's nothing wrong with altering your natural form because everybody does it. Make up probably seems a lot faker to you because you're a boy and you've never had to realistically justify the need for make up.
hello
I do have to say that I'm a little bit biased against make up and highheels wearing women. But then again I don't get along particulary well with most NORPs.

By inconvenience I meant actually irritating. It doesn't really bother me that it might look bad long, more like it keeps getting in the way of my face, harder to wash, etc. I can't really apply the same thinking to make up, because putting it on in the first place seems like an inconvenience.

Would it be safe to say that a lot of women literally feel naked when they go out without make up? Like, the same feeling somebody would get leaving their house wearing no clothes. If so, I think it's pretty sad that it's gotten to that point. But I'm not presuming all women are like that of course.
Bras are actually necessary. Tits, being giant sacks of fat, tend to have a bit of weight to them. It pulls down the skin encasing them and if you don't have something holding them up then the skin gets all stretched and saggy and that's just unappealing.

John is basically correct. Women wear makeup to improve their appearance, just as men shave and workout. However, to be fair, it is not actually the same. Shaving is more basic hygiene, whereas makeup is the deliberate altering of one appearance. A little makeup is fine, and can definitely improve how a woman looks, but excessive amounts of it I don't think is all too dissimilar to wearing a mask, in a way more severe than just basic hygiene.

Some men like saggy titties. It's why I still have a subscription to National Geographic.

About one in five women have great difficulty leaving the house without applying makeup. If it gets to the point where a woman feels too insecure to be seen without makeup, I agree it is a problem.

Come out the closet already, and stop bashing women for wanting to look good.
Why do we wear nice clothes (I assume you do), why do you groom your hair? It's like I'm seeing a mask, not the real you.
You can fuck off with your high-and-mighty act; women have just as much right as men to look good, and personally I find make up attractive if used in moderation.

If women really wanted to look good they wouldn't plaster themselves with all that expensive crap and just accept who they are.

I wear your average t-shirt and jeans and I don't groom my hair. I can assure you when you look at me, you're looking at the real me, and not my painted face.

Yeah they have a right to use it. Doesn't make it any less stupid.
u upset?
I'm the type who doesn't mind too much make up on women, but I cant stand it if they are wearing WAY too much, like lipsticks, but I'm just talking about middle schoolers ifunowatimeen.
Emphasis are great!
In a lot of cases, the au naturale look is repulsive.

I think it's funny when girls wear so much makeup that they look like a circus clown.
I always tell my girlfriend not to but she never listens because she says she "LOOKS UGLY". Even though she looks just about the same, just paler.
Wait you guys look at their faces?
Step 1. Paperbag over her head
Step 2. Bend her over
Step 3. ???
Step 4. PROFIT!
Women wear makeup because it is the social norm. Fuck yes I wear makeup on a daily basis, although it usually comes off at the end of the day.
Guys who bitch about women wearing makeup piss me off. It doesn't really bother you, you just want something to complain about because some chick in lipstick turned you down. It doesn't take hours to put on, I don't know why men assume that. We've been doing t for years, do you really think we haven't figured out how to apply the shit by now?

Unless you work in a profession wherein facial hair could physically compromise the quality of your work, shaving yourself clear every day is no less an obeisance to superficial social customs than wearing makeup. It's not as though it is unhealthy to have a beard.
I get my hair cut when it begins to be an inconvenience to me.
A large number of men cut their hair for aesthetics.

It generally doesn't take an hour. Five to fifteen minutes is more accurate unless the woman is wearing absurd amounts. It's also not that unhealthy.
Men do the same thing that women do, it's just that what they do is on a smaller scale. There is an enormous amount of societal pressure on women to look beautiful. The pressure on men to look attractive is small in comparison. So, in effect, the extents that women go to in order to meet that pressure are more extreme than those that men go to.
Women wear makeup because there are often social repercussions for not doing so. It is the societal expectation.
You basically just answered your own question. Women wear make-up, high heels, bras, etc., because they want to look sexier. They don't want to be who they are.
Just chillin' like always.

This is something I don't like. Do it if you want, sure, but doing something because everyone else does is pretty shallow. I hope I don't come across as trying to be "non conformist" here.

No, it does bother me. Nice try using the old "U JUST CANT GET A GURRL" argument though.

I think girls have a morphed view on what does and doesn't take long. Women take way longer getting ready than men and I think it's fair to assume most of that time is spent doing make up or something.
Tdlr: boys are dumb and bitch about things that don't apply to them
It does apply to me seeing as though I deal with girls wearing make up almost every day. No, I don't have a say in what they can and can't do, but I can disagree with their motives.

It's not doing something because everyone does it. It's doing something because you're expected to do it and not doing it has social consequences.
Furthermore, since the idea that women in makeup are more beautiful has propagated through our culture, is it so unreasonable for women to believe that they will be more beautiful if they put on makeup? Beauty is as much in part culturally subjective as it is instinctual attraction, so is it not understandable for someone to want to view their own body as attractive?

How long is way longer? And how do you know? You're 16, so you're not living in any sort of coed dorm. Like I said, it's five to fifteen minutes. To put it in perspective, stage makeup takes fifteen minutes at the most and that involves doing more than most women would do for anything other than special occasions.

There's no other way to put this, so I'm just going to go ahead and say that if you put on make up because you're afraid of the 'social consequences', you are a weak person.

Obviously make up looking good or bad is a matter of opinion. It's not unreasonable for somebody to want to look good, but I think people who wear make up need to realize they can look good without it, and not cave in to the standards society expects of them.
