3.79 / 5.00 3,779 ViewsWhile I've never knew about Earthbound before Super Smash Bros I've spent like 92 hours on the first file I created all the way in 2009 from august to December. The plot was not exactly as great as I'd thought it might have been but I like the parts where you've eaten the Magic Coffee and Cakes that were obviously laced with LSD it sort of reflects with all of the things you've done before in the game and overall progress you've made.
The Music was Great.
The Earthbound games are best played if you have a friend who's also experienced them. That way he can explain everything to you, and it's somebody to make jokes with on just about every wacky game mechanic. I've been attempting Earthbound on and off (just now got to Fourside, and have no idea what to do) recently, and my friend tells me I should hold off on trying out Mother 3 until after beating Earthbound. I don't know if the stories are connected or what, but he claims Mother 3's story is really sad while Mother 2's is just a silly take on a bunch of kids saving the world from aliens, and all sorts of monsters.
Also, Earthbound is the most difficult RPG I've ever played, and according to what I've heard, it's also supposed to be one of the longest out there. Despite being around for decades, there are still mechanics in the game that people can't explain for the life of them. Such as, why are all stat gains during a level up completely random and potentially make your character seem underleveled or way too powerful? What does luck do? Is there a certain amount of time that needs to elapse before Ness catches homesickness? Or is that just at random, inconvenient times?
I usually frequent the VG and collaboration Forums. If you find me anywhere else, I'm lost and can't find my way back.

mother 2 had a cool opening a nice characters + humor
mother 3 has one of the most emotional stories ive experienced (FF7 can die :P) and music is rly varied and good.
The first 2 mother series didn't really have story build-up but they were pretty decent games. Mother 3 had the most touching story I've seen in a video game for a long time.

Don't worry about it, Crink is known for trolling in almost all of his posts.

I don't see how the Mother series could ever be considered 'mediocre'. It's hilarious and fun, maybe a little difficult, but grinding was what came with RPG's for the most part.
