My only complaint is how bad some of the recent Sonic games are. Other than that, I like Sega and like some of their games (like Crazy Taxi, Super Monkey Ball, etc).

The thing with Sega right now, is that their games have become to generic, or at least not worth playing.
Sega was a big hit because of Sonic the Hedgehog. Since the Gamecube/Dreamcast/PS2/Xbox generation Sega has released countless of unappealing games that people just don't seem to find that much interest.

Even the new Sonic games have sucked pretty bad, especially since Sonic the Hedgehog 2006.

Also, Sega is starting to get shadowed by developers like Activision, Capcom, Nintendo, Konami and Square Enix.

Its safe to say the era of Sega has come to an end, and will possibly end up teaming up with another game developer company, unless they come up with a game that blows everyones mind

Don't forget EA, Namco, and Ubisoft.

And yeah, it's real sad because Sega just doesn't make games the way they used to. They won't even port House of the Dead 4 for Wii even to this day.

The thing that I hate about Sega is their constant need to milk the Sonic franchise far beyond the realms of milked franchises like Cod, Mega Man, etc, etc.

During the days of the Genesis/Mega Drive, they had hundreds of different games and just as many franchises {Decap attack, Vectorman, Ristar and many others} and most of them didn't even get a sequel and more or less got the axe. But after the Dreamcast, they started to milk the few remaining franchises that they had, so that they could remain relevent in the VG world, which led to them going rock bottom.

Although, they do have some decent games out there outside of Sonic and House of the Dead, which most of them are underrated to a degree, so it's not like they all of a sudden forgot how to make good games now, they just have a nasty habit of milking their flagship franchise to a point where it becomes toxic.

"Hate" is a pretty strong word, but I find it amazing how many times that company can fuck up seemingly simple concepts without ever learning from their own mistakes. Sega could have dominated Nintendo in the 8-bit console market with some good marketing, but they decided to partner up with Tonka to promote their system. They could have cornered the market by letting developers finish games for the Saturn, but no. They had to release the mockery that is the Genesis 32X to bridge the gap and release the Saturn far earlier than expected, just to add insult to injury. They could have stayed strong against the PS2, but they overspent on marketing, lost money on manufacturing the consoles, anddidn't bother getting a strong third party crowd. Finally, Sega could have taken the near-perfection Sonic Adventure and made more games like it, but instead they had to release countless buggy, poorly-designed and ill-conceived sequels and spin-offs with unstimulating gameplay and annoying characters for nearly a decade before they realized they were making asses of themselves.

Don't get me wrong, I love Sega. I've always been a fan of the Sonic games and other franchises released and produced by them. However, they have always had something of a misdirection in their creation of games. They always seem to spend huge sums of time and money on their projects and they never seem to hit their mark.

At least it seems like they're starting to release some better Sonic games (for now).

I dissagree. Sonic doesn't need to die, although his latest games have mostly been sub-par (excluding Colours, which was great, and most of the DS games). He just needs to be inviggorrated - pioneering in the 2D genre.

Because frankly, it's obvious that fans don't ever, ever really want a 3D Sonic game ever again.
