Now tell me this, how on Earth are people so stupid?
To answer this question, the boundaries of stupidity must first be defined.
Technically we were never at war, so in fact you are the stupid one.

You're half right. We took part in the war, but it wasn't about us. The side America took lost.
Good ol' America.

We never made a formal declaration of war. Congress never declared war, therefore it can be more accurately called the Vietnam "incident"
Hehe...you don't know your history

Good ol' America.
If you take part in a war. You are most definitely "AT WAR".
The point is, America still lost what they failed to win.
Vietnam was a proxy war between the USA and the communists, specifically China.
The communists never directly engaged in the fighting but they supported Vietnam with loads of stuff.
But yeah, South Vietnam and the USA lost.
The 21st Century is weird enough to actually mistake this for a real hot dog

That's not stupidity, that's just a fail. And random.
We did indeed lose. Now, we killed 12x the Vietnamese than they killed of us and we won every battle but those guys didn't give up and Americans didn't seem to be interested in the war from the get go. You can win every battle and still lose the war. America decided that South Vietnam wasn't worth all this trouble so we left and South Vietnam was defeated later.
America has actually lost one war and had a draw for two.

another show of stupidity. Do be at war you need to declare war according to the constitution, and only congress has that power. We supplied troops and aid, we weren't technically at war. The last time we were by definition at war was WW2.

We crushed the Tet Offensive, tell me, what is left? We won yet handed the victory away.

Actually, I'm a complete idiot so let me push this a little further. We had complete air superiority enough that we were able to fly helicopters just to target where our enemies were. We outnumbered them in both power and numbers, burned entire villages, crushed waves of their strongest forces. Vietnam War was a guerrilla war that was heavily documented, tons of the "bad stuff" was sent back home that began riots against the war. And this was being told to me by several Vietnam veterans. Had we stayed until the end I seriously don't see how anyone can truly believe we would have lost, we crushed their main strategic forces completely. This was a war lost by media influx, notice how we don't release so much documentation today? But I guess I forget the primary age group of NGers.

America didn't win all of the battles.
Zalecot. You're stupid.
Whether or not it was officially stated of being a war between America, Vietnam, and others. It was still a war to the people, and America lost.
Get over it.

We didn't win or lose the war. There's a difference between losing a war and pulling out. Losing a war implies that the other side has won. What happened is that we essentially stalemated and therefore, pulled out for the sake of stopping our loss of resources, both financial and human.

to the people doesn't matter, by definition there was no war. We lost the Vietnam conflict, now war.

You have no clue how hard that is to prove or disprove.

Here a source states we didn't lose any, which seems to sound fair considering I can't find any proof otherwise. He does say that we lost former battles, engagements, bases, ect.
http://www.g2mil.com/lost_vietnam.htm
Here a source is listing lost battles. What is silly about this is the fact that this source is listing "attacks" and "ambushes" as battles ... As well you can read some of the mentioned battles and it says that we took the point. I have to agree with Cootie, we dominated. But yes, we did "lose" the war.

People don't realize how much the will of the people counts. North Vietnam thought that we were evil monsters trying to split their country and invade their lands. While the Americans thought that we were just trying to stop yet another shithole country from becoming commies.
You can imagine which one actually cared more about who won or lost there.

We beat the Nazis, and god damn did they ever have will. And they were offensive, relying on heavy warfare. They had task forces in many countries, extending so far that it should be a surprise. They captured tons of points and continued to push yet as allied forces we were able to stop them.
Charlie were dieing faster than flies, we were wiping out entire villages at a time. Losing no ground.
