Lets just say that a leader runs for office (he is a member of the communist party) and hot diggity damn the guy happens to win and your country starts going Red. How do you react to this? Keep in mind that communism doesn't always mean totalitarianism.
I haul ass to Canada myself.

Communism is the best form of Government.
All I know is that my friend Jonathan would be partying for weeks if that happened, he and his family have been red ever since he was born.
Start making jokes about soviet union.

Mostly because our nation fears the polar's of the political spectrum.
Honestly? Probably start a violent opposition faction and fight for a independent sovereign nation, viva la revolution!

My class had a mock election, the guy who won was openly communist and voiced communist ideals.

Really a person's ideals means nothing. Their a ology as a public speaker and their charisma means lots more. A man with enough charisma can worm his way into any position no matter what his opinions are.

I'd be okay with it.
I support communism.
I have a hard time believing that will ever happen.
I don't see anything wrong with it. Luckily in America we have a balance of powers.
We have hundreds of individually elected local representatives. We also have the supreme court, which would declare any of that leader's acts unconstitutional.
I'd join you and hop the Canadian border.

And that sir, is because true communsim is nearly impossible to create because us as humans, inherently want more money, or more prestige, etc etc. It was a weird blend of base communist ideas with some typical political bullshit thrown in to make it sound good

We would just have to make sure that the new leader doesn't chang anything about our systems of checks and balances.

But he would have to add an new amendment to the constitution. And to do that, congress would have to vote on it.
Again, checks and balances save the day.

Which is why I believe that this scenario of a communist leader could happen.

Uh huh, explains the huge number of Communist revolutions...... Communism isn't inherently evil, it's also not inherently inefficient. The real problem that occurred was that most Communist nations were rural and were still feudalistic and developing, Karl Marx said that it had to go from Feudalism to Capitalism to Communism, as Capitalism is the ultimate state of class society as the Bourgeoisie compete to make the most money, even if it means that they have to take advantage of people to do it. Essentially Colonialism/Imperialism opened up new markets, with this the Bourgeoisie vastly expand in their wealth and they overthrow the Feudal lords and industrialize creating Capitalism, and now with Urbanization taking place there is a influx of new workers, these workers then have to compete with each other for unskilled work i.e. work that anyone can do, so they offer more hours and less wages thus it gets to the point that they work 12 hours a day to make say 5 cents. While this is happening the Bourgeois become more and more richer and interact more with foreign markets, causing them to become less in touch with the Proletariat (the worker) which is the ultimate state of Class Society.
This is why if you actually read Karl Marx's writings and his life you see why he had such a obsession with a revolution in Britain France and Germany not China or Russia, one time he did say he wanted one in Russia but he then predicted it would spread into Germany France and Britain.
Karl Marx was a very smart man don't think any less of him, he had a PhD in Greek Philosophers, he always got journalist jobs just by presenting himself to the newspapers, he fought Prussian censorship and openly criticized the government while urging revolution over and over.

No. The Communist nations were like this, there wasn't really much care about money as everyone was paid for same, people took jobs because it interested them or because it was their only option, essentially they were doing good, no one could compete with them for a job so they didn't have to work harder to keep their job, the problem was that the economy wasn't moving forward because since everyone was paid the same no one was motivated to work harder.

Your point makes more sense then mine, I give. But from my point view, in america (almost) everything is either money based, or prestige based. Now there are exceptions. But I digress.

I'm already a communist, but that sounds like a good idea.
I'd try to join an effort to uncommunize America. If that fails, I'm moving to another country that has a free market.

Also, I'm an independent communist, like a mercenary, you can hire me to start a revolution.
Tick Tock
While it's insanely unlikely to happen if it did I would try to adjust. If it doesn't work out then I would pursue other options like moving to another country.
