The Trial

I bow my head respectfully
"Do you approve"
Hundreds of eyes cut into me
After hours of inspection they make their move

I make several steps foreward
"Have I met your expectations"
hundreds of eyes stare in fascination
Dozens of men come to leave me a kind ward
Dozensmore leave me a verbal laceration

I've come close to my goal
"All I need is support"
But I fall far from royal
I've come close to another resort

I'm beyond the mass, I know it
"You are the sea, but my flame stays lit"
Immersed in the many I rise
While the rest meet their demise

At the end of the week, my title is as planned
"All answer to my demand"
I am gold glistening in sand
I am now and forever known in this land
