Why do people do this? I see it on every comedy flash on Newgrounds, it seems like. It's getting annoying.
For instance, how many newbs have left a 10-scoring review on ASDFmovie, quoting their most retarded favorite lines and nothing else but a sideways laugh face? It has secured the Review "crew" Pick because it has a hundred reviews that simply quote one line of the flash.
People on YouTube are starting to make fun of Newgrounds reviews. Sad but true. How many idiots feel the need to leave a review for Beer Run screaming in unison "HE FORGOT THE ICE LOL" or "HEY IS EXPLOSM REALLY 80!?"
Here's an idea: Put some damn thought into your review instead of bloating the score with shitty quotes. This is not YouTube; we have guidelines and standards for our flash reviews. At least put a few extra words in. "Hey I liked the part where it did this but not when it did this ok goodluck." Even this little blurb is an improvement over laughfaces and silly things like that.
Anyway, I think I've gotten my point across. Quoting a flash for one line is NOT equal to a review. Your thoughts on this? I'd like to see some intelligent conversation on this matter.

This happens on Youtube all the time. Whenever there's a video of a series or anything made by a popular, influential user-group, people are quoting what was said in the video all the time. On Newgrounds, I don't have that much of a problem with it, but there in that Youtube, it really makes me mad.

Newgrounds doesn't bother me, they probably do that because they aren't in a position to give an honest critiquing and wanted the artists to know exactly what they thought was funny. In a way, although the comments can get annoying, artists should like that because it can help them hone in on what people like and lets face it, newgrounds is very diverse.

This could be a solution. At the present, the score could be the one thing that decides if such a review is abusive of not. If someone posted "Lol :p" and gave the flash a 0, it would be abuse, while the same review with a 10 is not abuse. We need some consistency.

Thanks. I do believe a minimum character limit would be a reasonable idea. Maybe 20 characters minimum. Then again, we don't want the rules to be so harsh that Newgrounds looks like a bunch of totalitarians. There's a fine line here.

Ronald McDonald just said it. If I posted "LOL" in a review and voted zero, it would be abusive, but if I posted the same thing, but gave it a ten, it wouldn't get flagged. In fact it could get rated helpful despite not offering any criticism or anything.

I finally stopped being lazy and got a screenshot as an example. I'm no review mod, but I can say that I've seen almost everything when it comes to reviews. The one in the middle is obvious abuse, because it is spamming the quote. But this just goes to show you how fucking repetitive quote reviews are. We all have our opinions on flashes and reviews (I for one think that these quote reviews are made by 12 year olds), but these guys aren't expressing their opinion.

There's no commentary or constructive criticism here. There's no opinion. They're simply repeating what happened in the flash, like a parrot.
At one point of reading reviews, I found a review with constructive criticism, a moderate score, and some relatively helpful commentary. Right after it, two reviews replied to it, calling the guy out for not giving it a ten.
This concludes my rant.

this game is so esey. i mean, all you do is hit the spacebar. thats it! how is this an RPG anyway? you cant contrail anything but what it says on the screen! what if i didnt want to buy the potion? what apout quests? all you can upgrade is stranth? there is no way you can lose to the boss at the end! this game is crap! its not even an RPG at all! i mean look at it! in what way is this supposed to be an RPG if you can do quests and stuff? all you do is press one butten the entier time! explain to me! the athore coments al totol lies! is it supposed to be stick dudes? i dont even know how this damn game got the daily 3rd prize, or a rating of 4.26!

I reckon that particular movie has got excessively great ratings and reviews because of all the one-liners. I didn't find it particularly hilarious, but I still agree it has that appeal.
I don't want to sound like a hipster douche, but newgrounds' review system is turning mainstream.
If I were a review mod, lots of that shit would be deleted.
I hate it when they just say "Good Flash". Yes we know you find it a good Flash, that's why you gave it a 10 and put it on your favourites list. Please, it's not a comment section.
It would be great if the authors could only read the comments that contained proper criticism.
