sharpen quality of photo?

Im decent with computers but no wizard so i was wondering if there was a way to increase the quality of my desktop background, the ones they give you look fine( the way they are shown in the boxes you pick them from, basically in hd quality), yet the ones i pull off the net are too blurry how do i sharpen the image? this is the photo i want?

There is no way to fix that.

When enlarged the photo retains it's original resolution, and enlarges the actual pixels, ruining the quality.

There is no way to change that, with out the original photo being bigger. It will always lose quality, it's just a fact of life.

No offense, but i don't think your correct on that one the pictures provided to you by the company/laptop/etc (the ones you find when you look at pictures for backgrounds already give to you) retain their quality, is there a reason or any insight on this?

IncendiaryProduction did not explain things very well, but he's essentially right. JPG and GIF images all have a static predefined width and height. They are composed of a static number of pixels, each of which also has a predefined height and width. A JPG image cannot be made larger than its native resolution without pixel distortion, and neither can a GIF image. Desktop backgrounds are natively larger images of a resolution on the order of 1024 x 768 pixels or higher. If you do not provide an image that natively replicates that resolution, there will always be distortion.

As I said, the original pictures are larger. There is no way to enlarge that picture and make it retain quality.

It WILL pixelate.

I did do a reverse image search though, and found a larger version of that image, so it will lose less quality.

Essentially, but tile looks like shit. You're better off finding a picture that matches your screen resolution. Again, what's your screen resolution?

its 1600x900, it's a pretty big laptop the screen can fit a textbook on it, if that gives insight/makes sense

Why is your screen so wide? I would find that pretty inconvinient.
