Now I understand why the word is banned and the following statement isn't to try and get it reinstated.

1) I never hear any other races using a racial term to one and another as a symbol of being friends. (What up N-Word)

2) I hate that the same people that get offended by the N-word, are so quick to call white people honkys, crackers, etc etc. The only difference between them and us is we don't get our panties in a bunch, we understand its just a word.

3) A word is only offensive when you allow it to be, maybe its time to stop enabling it. Not to mention how offensive is a word to someone when they are only offended when it comes out of someone of a different race's mouth. Either be offended or don't, I don't know why they think they are special. They want to be equal (which is the way it should be with all races none-excluded) yet they don't want to be treated equal. They want special treatment when it suits them.

4) Honestly what are most rap songs today but the N-word and one word that rhymes with it?

5) At my old job everyone agreed, N-words come in all shapes, sizes and colors, every race has their share of N-words (Ignorant People).

6) As I believe Louie CK said (correct me if I'm wrong), the N-word is more offensive then the actually N-word. The only difference is your tricking the reader/listener into saying it in their head instead of actually saying it yourself.

But honestly, if they are going to ban the N-word, ban every other racial slur. Things like this prove point #3, all we are doing is keeping alive the racial part of the word. It also proves that they someone how deserve special treatment.

Now granted their are people who use the N-word as a racial slur, and you know what if there wasn't such a reaction from them using it chances are they wouldn't use it as often. Its a fucking word, not a bullet, not a knife...a word. I don't remember the last time someone lectured me and I was injured.

But what do I know I'm just a cracker. (See I can take a word)

Erm, perhaps a bit of context? It's the Internet. Knives and guns don't come out of your computer screen at you, unless you're living in a cartoon.

I once read a thread on here once, a guy asking about gun ownership laws here in the UK. People gave him reasonable answers, linked him to government resources, chatted about how they'd used guns of various kinds here before, all dandy. Whether he was trolling or not is irrelevant; then the OP added something along the lines of, 'Now maybe I'll be able to frighten these off fucking Arabs that fester around here.' Contrary to what you might have expected, people in the thread (who easily were not Arabic in any way) told him to fuck off.

Racism just isn't a nice thing, and it goes beyond 'just another word' semiology.

Maybe we really should filter out other slurs? Who's going to choose them, and would everyone using the 'this place is supposed to be fun, not censored!!!' argument be offended anyway? Spoiler: yes they would.

Or maybe we could just get on with our lives. There's a rule against racism anyway, so why would anyone need the word? Eh, maybe if this place was a little more optimistic in general.

PS: I understand writers getting upset with having 'sn******ed' and so on being cut. But really, it should be obvious to most readers what the word's supposed to be. I have the above word in one of my blog posts because I didn't write it with just NG in mind. I honestly couldn't give a flying poop about changing it, because people are clever enough to understand it. I think. Personally, if there is going to be a Portal for writers here, I hope that assumption just becomes a norm.

But I agree to some extent that it is odd to not be able to post this slur but any other slur is fine. Especially since in modern times like these we should go to a larger range of oral freedom over a seclusion, what with free speech and all.

I don't know why. In some forums, you can turn the language filter on or off, so if you turn it on, all inappropriate language (e.g. fuck, shit, cunt) would become ****. Turning it off allows you to see what the asterisks hide.

I wish that the BBS had this feature.

But the N word... it is racist, but it is not always censored. At class one day we were reading an article about Jackie Robinson, and the N word was there, but they never bothered to censor it, or even put a thought into it. It was also in a children's book about Toronto, while describing the war on racism.

I guess Newgrounds is more considerate these days, but it needs to be strengthened.
