In my country the people are done by crime.
Birmingham, Alabama is now ranked #7 in the rate of murders in the country. It has higher crime rates in some areas that Detroit. It is not uncommon that you hear gunshots followed by the sounds of an ambulance siren.
Absurdly high crime levels and in the top ten most dangerous cities in America.

There's a pretty neat new website for the UK that lets you look at crime figures for your area and what particular crime is most at issue. I was shocked to realise that my town was well above the national average for violence and anti-social behaviour, here's the link for anyones thats interested. click
I live in regina saskatchewan. A few years ago mcleans magazine gave us the title of 'having the dangerous neighborhood in canada.' Pretty dumb if you ask me cause I've never had anything bad happen to me and I have a few friends that live in it because of the cheap rent. I even walk around it at night...
I live in a small town. Crime is not really that bad around here; most people don't lock their doors (I do, however, because I used to live in one of the worst cities in the UK).
The main problem around here is drunks, and people who are drink-driving.

I was going to link that myself. I had a fun look myself. There was one in my street but nothing serious. Just wish it told you for the 'Other' crimes. Would be nice to know if it's a drug dealer or a pedo you got on your road.

Yeah but then we'll get human rights bollocks being claimed if it got a bit personal as in naming individuals. Could inspire some vigilantes to go after these people. Although seeing a masked "hero" going around my town beating up child molesters would be beyond awesome.
