Drawing Question 2011-01-30 22:42:05 Reply

When you are creating your characters, backgrounds, etc.; what size do you make the canvas? If you use a tablet, do you use pressure sensitivity? Basically, what are your favored settings while you are drawing?

I use the 2nd smallest brush size, enable the pressure and tilt, and smoothing at about.. 30ish. Then I go to town =)

I keep my stage at 640 x 360, so I can export to HD if needed. It also helps keep the characters in proper proportion.

I usually use 720 x 405 because it is an HD resolution. Realistically, you can use any size of a canvas that you want. Maybe you have an animation that you want the height really tall or maybe an animation that could use the width really wide. Making games is a different story. Some games need more height than width because the game is mainly played vertical and other games may use more width.

When i draw with my tablet, i like to use pressure sensitivity to make my lines flow better. I set it to usually the second brush size and zoom in a bit when i am animating.

Without a doubt you should use whatever is most comfortable for you.
