For those in the UK here is a direct link.
For those who aren't they were discussing a Mexican sports car:
"Why would you want a Mexican car... 'cus cars reflect national characteristics don't they! So German cars are very built and ruthlessly efficient, Italian cars are a bit flamboyant and quick, a Mexican car's just going to be a lazy, feckless, flatulent... leaning against a fence asleep, looking at a cactus with a blanket with a hole in the middle of it as a coat!"
They also go on to insult Mexico's national cuisine referring to it as "Sick with cheese on it"
As if all of that wasn't enough to provoke outcries of 'RACISM'. They also went on to say:
"I'm sorry but just imagine waking up and remembering you're Mexican... It would be brilliant because you could just go straight back to sleep again."
"That's why we're not gonna get any complaint about this 'cus the Mexican Embassy, the ambassador is going to be sitting there with a remote control like this *he pretends to be asleep* They wont complain."
Is this too far or are national stereotypes just harmless fun? Do you think the script writers are deliberately causing controversy to boost ratings? Is this a tired stereotype spread to the rest of the world by America? Have any of the top gear team even met a Mexican?
.
Who the fuck likes Mexico anyway?
How can you be racist against a country? Grammar Nazi, OUT!
I believe that as long as you don't mean any harm and you don't think that something about your race is better than another race than you aren't racist. If they didn't really mean harm in those statements than it could be described as just playful fun, but if it was actually meant to be a serious statement than it's racist.
Your name is Hitler.
I'd like to point out the irony here.
illicit makes a damn good signature.
IT WAS A JOKE. IT'S BANTER
SOCIETY NEEDS TO CHILL THE FUCK OUT AND LEARN TO TAKE BANTER.
OH MY GOD.
hello
People need to lighten up and stop taking offence so easily. It's only a bit of harmless fun. I'm sure everyone has to put up with national stereotypes now and again. They've never bothered me, but it does get old hearing the same thing over and over.

What's wrong with some stereotype based humor? Not like every other developed country hasn't been doing it for years.
It's humour at the expense of someone else.
Top Gear have done it with countless of countries and people before. There is no need to take offense really. Sure it's juat making a joke out of a stereotype but it's all just a joke.

I agree, it did seem a bit more laboured than usual though, I really get the feeling they're asking for exposure. They made sure they insulted the people, the food and the culture.

Yeah, about men.
Everyone knows that Mexico is a shitty 3rd world country that will soon be replaced by the NWO.

:(
hello
Yeah but it's fucking true. The Mexican authorities are lazy cunts that let their women get raped and murdered all the time.
Oh for gods sake, they've said much worse about the Germans. I personally was pissing myself. It was a great episode.
They've been doing this for years. They make fun out of EVERY country based on stereotypes, including countries in the UK.
Sabine Schmitz, who was tutoring Clarkson in that Diesel Jaguar around the Nurburgring to try and get him to do a lap within ten minutes (and who later said she could do his time in a van) later on went to present a German equivalent of Top Gear.
So, they decided to do an episode of Top Gear versus whatever German show it was and chose Belgium (I think) to stage it in. The Germans turned up early and the Brits flew in on Spitfires, haha.
It's all in good fun, people need to lighten the shit up.

Forgot about that, that was ace.

People nowadays just can't seem to take a fucking joke anymore, even if it is about stereotypes about a country and their cars.
Hell, the American version of Top Gear does the same thing, but with Japanese made cars, about how they're made for girly men, or their trucks are a sign that 1 American truck maker is total shit, and can't handle the Alaskan wilderness. Even though I think that trucks made by Japanese car companies, {with the exception of the Ridgeline}, are usually total shit to drive, and can't tow much without breaking down.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.
The real question, is who gives a fuck about mexico?
Mexicans don't even give a fuck about mexico.
I am Mexican, and I don't know what the fuck. It's British humor, Mexicans are arguably worse on stereotypical comedy.
My country is full of hypocrites.
Although I admit having been stung a little by the "lazy" stereotype. Is this what you see on us?
Eh, that's fucked up!(Skip to 6:43)

LMAO, this is too funny.
"for those who dont get it. read alias"
I love how people acted like this was the first time Top Gear has done something controversial. This was smalltime compared to some of the other things they've miraculously managed to upset viewers with before.
People need to lighten up and learn the difference between having a laugh and genuinely insulting something.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Everyone has a chance to read his newspaper column after the event yet?
While he brings up a point about humour and what other nations joke about with each other, he had to end it on a note where you just want to face palm really;
"You won't be able to think of one joke you've ever heard that wouldn't cause someone somewhere to be upset.
Let me leave you with an example.
Why doesn't Mexico have an Olympic team? it's because everyone there who can run, jump or swim is already across the border."

Internet laws and shit.
It'll be just like that time Jeremy made that joke about killing prostitutes. Everyone gets mad, I laugh, then everyone gets over it. I just can't believe those filthy, dirty, lazy Mexicans are getting so riled up about this.
