I mean because I know nothing about programming what do I do? just work on the artwork and tell him what I want done, or ask him how I should do it. I'm looking for some advice really from a programmer or someone whos worked with one before
Cheers
Make a thread here with the title as "Programmer needed" or something like that and give a couple of lines and show examples of your work (this is the most important part if you want to collaborate).
I've found a programmer already, I just don't know how I should do it, should I send him bits that are done, or do all the art then send him the whole thing?

Oh didn't read your post well, lol.
This is something you discuss with your partner, you have to chat with him to figure out how to sort that out.
Your best bet is to just ask the programmer what to do. We don't know anything about the project so can't really say what you should be doing. Just tell him you're new to collaborating, and if he doesn't understand then he's probably not someone you want to work with.
You are asking us how to socialize? Damn, if you didn't learn that when you were in school, then it's kinda late for you now. Though my spidy sense is tingling and it's telling me you might be trolling, but if you are not...wow :P.
You can solve pretty much any problem you may have with AS3 by consulting the AS3 Language reference.
Just send him the artwork when you're finished and tell him what you need.
Usually when working with a programmer, once the core idea is determined, I start off with the key assets. Get the player done, maybe an enemy and the Game Interface or something. You know, the important stuff that are integral to the game.
Once you have the key assets and style of the artwork down you can move onto designing the rest of the enemies and gameplay assets. I usually do the time consuming assets like level backgrounds/cutscenes etc at the end of a project, so the programmer has everything he needs to build the actual game while you get on with youre time consuming stuff.
Hope thats helpful!

Thanks man, Thats the sort of thing I was looking for, I just didn't know what a programmer expects when making a game, so i just sort of jammed it all into one .Fla and sent it to him XD he's told me what he needs now though so I should be alright.
Thanks everyone
