Hey. whats up. this is a thread relating to writing lyrics spoken to a rhythm, usually described as rapped or spoken word. I'm not a regualar in this specific forum. and most of the threads here are just submissions of litetaure, poetry, something of the sort. Although, I figured since this was a writing not a writings forum we could talk about all things related to the process and such. okay heres the topic

Often in hip hop, you'll hear a rapper say "uh" "yeah" "cause" (most commonly although there are other words used) in a way to connect the flow of the ending vowel to the beginning of the next rhythm. this is often crucial because your syllable count has to be above a minimum and below a maximum in order to sound 'flowish'. Although, sometimes when I'm writing raps for my album I feel like i could use less breaks, maybe it'll make me sound more artistic. So, on and on how do you feel about this often required technique?

Subjects we could disscuss would be: Use of such technique being a cliche, making you sound repetitive, not being a part of the overall subject & art of the song. How you sometimes have to employ specific wording to make your rap flow like you want it to.

alright, lets talk about flow.

I also sing, although I prefer to scream in that general area of music. I haven't seen it as something thats a part of the preformance of singing, thats why i didnt mention it here. Also this isn't in the audio forum because it's subject is within writings, not sounds.
