Long time since I last posted, I doubt anyone noticed anyway...

Doesn't matter, what does is I bought yet another Opeth album, Still Life. In addition to that I now have My Arms Your Hearse, Blackwater Park and Damnation. I love all the albums a lot and will surely get each one at some point.

I also started singing in a new group some time ago. Mostly jamming and such but the guitarist is pretty great. He likes COB- kind of fast-paced stuff and has lots of power metal feel in his own riffs. I think this might be a good chance to train my lyrical and vocal creativity. Our first song will have a classic heavy metal/power metal sound to it. Still, I'm trying to avoid writing too cheesy lyrics.... :P

HIM, him, for one, it's hard rock/nu-metal. Notice the metal hell title which hard rock/nu-metal isn't allowed. Lordi is metal, borderline.

To Idiosyncratic: Heavy metal and doom metal are closest to original metal, not stoner metal. Do you have corn in your ears?

Heavy metal is original metal. Black Sabbath isn't doom, it's more stoner.

Dude, Stoner Metal is a fusion genre. Doom isn't a fusion genre. Stoner Metal = Stoner ROck/ Heavy Metal. Doom Is more closer to Heavy Metal.

Yeah, I'm not much into death metal. Would Dry Kill Logic count at all? I do like their song, Paper Tiger.

Nu-Metal Bands:

Mudvayne
Korn (early work)
Coal Chamber

Power Metal Bands:

Helloween
Angra
Stratovarius

Thrash Metal Bands:

Megadeth
Anthrax

and I can't believe you didn't ask about progressive metal....

Dream Theater
Symphony X (who are apparently also part power)
Queensryche

or regular ol' heavy metal...

Dio
King Diamond/ Mercyful Fate

This was a good weekend, I got to see my friend play at a local concert and saw some other pretty good bands as well. I also got to meet the drummer for Lamb of God, which was a big suprise. The only downside to the entire night were the fucking frat boys who were hardcore dancing in the middle of a crowded, tiny bar. Assholes.

What? Nu-metal?! HIM are not nu-metal at all...they're gothic rock man..they don't sound remotely nu-metal. They sound like a lighter version of bands like Entwine or Poisonblack.

Hai guyz. Tis been a while since I've posted in here last. I gots a question that I enjoy asking ppl at school then call me n00bs cause of gay bands they like.

Whats your fantasy band? Like, if you could combine your favorite ppl from bands and have them collaborate, who would be in it? Its kinda like Roadrunner United, but less gay.

Well, I see we're doing the genre wars thing in here again :)
Nothin new lol.

I'll take this chance to bring a good album I recently re-discovered to light:
Amon Amarth - With Oden on our Side

It loosely follows norse mythology, which is always kinda cool. The tracks aren't overly brutal and the vocals are understandable. Overall nothing too melodic, but a very very solid consistent sound to it.

heh. I remember making a topic like that before that a lot of people didn't take seriously. Plus, I think I came up with a pretty crappy combination of members frin some bands I don't really like anymore. I don't really recall.

Anyway, I don't know about my "dream band" but I think it would be cool if an instrumental band was formed with....

guitars - Michael Romeo and Robert Fripp
bass - John Myung
drums - either Mike Portnoy or Jason Rullo
Keyboards - either kevin moore, Derek Sherinian, or Jordan Rudess

I got Far From Heaven, by Axenstar in the mail today, I somehow managed to find a site that wasn't 40 bucks to import it. I've never been so excited to finally get my hands on an album. If you only even like Power Metal a little bit, you owe it to yourself to check out this band right now.

Rough Translation: I am from the Netherlands, I am also the official co-leader of Metal Hell, Welcome

Anyway, On Saturday, I got the new Deicide album. It's actaully pretty good. There a few Melodic riffs in this album. In some parts, it sounds a bit like Melodeath.
