That's cool. First I've heard of this. I hope if they release any new material it doesn't suck.

You got that right. It looks like it'll be a monumental year for doom metal. We'll have comebacks for Black Sabbath and Saint Vitus but we also say farewell to Candlemass and Cathedral with one more album. Solstice would be a great addition to the monumental 2012 doom if they release their new album then.

This thread is in need of waking up a bit. All I have in mind right now is wondering which of you listen to Virgin Steele and if so, which albums do you recommend? This is another band who I'm considering asking an album for Christmas. I did ask on MA but only had one response so hopefully I get a better outcome here, even if we've all been quiet lately.

Nah, but seriously. I'm not too sure about it. If they don't play too much Paradise Lost and Iconoclast, then I might go see them. I'd like to hear more The New Mythology Suite, The Odyssey and Twilight In Olympus if I ever see them live again.

They are from the United States. I don't know them much... I know the name though. Might check them out sometime soon.

They are a Thrash/Groove Metal. I don't really enjoy Groove Metal and I feel that a lot of core bands were inspired by Groove Metal. But Groove is a derivative (is that correct? not too sure) of Thrash Metal, so it really can't be all that bad. The most famous Thrash/Groove band I know is Pantera. Does Lazarus A.D. sound anything like them?

uh I didnt hear the name Groove metal beside actually Pantera like you said and like Pantera was considered Power metal at the beginning... uh....
So I can't say I like or dont like Groove metal because there isnt many bands that are Groove metal (If so somebody name Groove metal bands...)
but no I dont see Groove metal in Lazarus A.D. , I just see good old-school thrash metal ... I dont know Pantera was more heavy riffing and slow and very good guitar god versus then thrash metal

So I finally defeated writer's block and wrote my review for Megadeth's Th1r3en. Can't say it's a favourite of mine and right now I'm listening through their discography to re-experience all their great stuff.
At 11/21/11 12:01 PM, CoCo wrote: Hmmm how about that iced earth/symphony x tour? anyone else hyped up for it?
I would have been if they did it in Europe. Iced Earth were playing at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London (which has awful sound settings for live shows) so I didn't want to see them there. I was less excited for them anyway considering Matt Barlow left.

Oh man, I finally did another newspost, this time for Merauder.
I wish I could do those posts like Bahamut. Always on time, never failing to impress.

Yeah, it's a pity he left. But Stu's performance on Dante's Inferno is decent. But I propably can't see them when they play in Hamburg. The conert's on a Sunday and with me flying to the UK a few days later I just can't afford it...
A real pity since the Markthalle is one of my favorite places for concerts.

I like all types of Metal, but my favorite is Black Metal, like Rotting Christ, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Vader and Mirrorthrone.

Like Bill (batman) said, you need to list a few more bands, but it's pretty obvious that you are going to make the cut :P
So you like Symphonic Black Metal, that's cool. Want to share some SBM with me?
If you haven't checked them out already, I highly recommand the band Abigail Williams. Their album In The Shadow Of A Thousand Suns is definitely one of the best SBM albums I've ever heard. I even wrote a review for it on Metal Archives :)
Abigail Wiliams - The World Beyond
If you like Cradle Of Filth, you will love Illnath (that is i l l n a t h. Just saying because with the capital letter at the beginning it can be confusing). I never really liked CoF, at least not their whole discography. But whenever I listen to Illnath, it makes me think of CoF, but better.
Illnath - Frozen Constellations
(the sound quality is fuckin' bad... but that's just on YouTube).
Last recommandation... Anthelion. You might like them. I think they are ok. They have great and not so great tracks. They have a good musicianship for sure :)
I lied, here's one last band I recommand. Not my favorite... but they have a few goddamn great tracks. The name is Chthonic. Enjoy :)

So Duff, did you ever listen to mirrorthrone? Was it not awesome?
On a side note, my band may be coming to fruition, I'm probably gonna be jamming with some dudes next weekend.

I love Rotting Christ and Mirrorthrone. You should check out the Agatus album, the Weaving Fates. It's an awesome Greek black metal album that you'd probably like since you dig Rotting Christ.
Speaking of which, Agatus has a new EP coming out this month. I'm displeased to see that Gilgamesh isn't on it. Their still is no official release wit that song included. what a load of ass.

Is it wrong that I want to listen to Morbid Angel's remix album? I only want to hear it just to find out how bad it is and see how much lower the band is going. Half of the album consists of the same two songs remixed by other artists. Yeah, that's a bad sign already but I'm sure I'll laugh.

I'm always ahead of time so it's no trouble posting them. However, when it comes to genuine reviewing, that all depends on motivation.

You mention 5 which are all acceptable.
Ask you to list 5 more bands.
Halfway there..no turning back now.
Basically we accept 6 out of ten.
So yeah..list 5 more Metal bands, only need one more and it's official.
Once your next 5 are checked and least one passes one of the Horsemen will officially welcome you in.
See you sooner or later.
Keep it HEAVY

Okay, here it goes: Motörhead, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Sonata Artica and Megadeth.
I could keep posting, but the list would be too long...

That being said, Lazarus A.D. are no where nearly as awful as Pantera and have some pretty kickass songs. And kill it live.

All bands fit perfectly except for AC/DC, which is an Hard Rock band. But you now have 9 metal bands on your list and that's all you need to join. So, as one of the horsemen of the Metal Hell, I officialy open the gates of the Hell for you.
And by the way, go listen to all the bands I recommanded earlier... I've worked pretty hard just for you, son :)

The way you set it up implied that those bands were djent - I didn't assume anyone would quote an entire post just to type three letters, then go on and make their own post. And the lack of transition words didn't help your case any.

I may not celebrate Thanksgiving but I hope this holiday goes well for those that apply. I do respect your country a lot and I also respect a lot of music that comes from there. Speaking of, I have another Manilla Road post up and loaded.
As for the Djent genre, it's not one I've looked into that well and I think I can settle with just some Meshuggah for the time being.
