If it could be ace like Oracles, then I'd really appreciate it. The Mafia EP was ok, but way too "melodeath" melodic if you know what I mean. I liked the tracks from Oracles better, they are a lot more unique and well-written.

Does anyone know any extreme metal bands from Italy? I've noticed I only listen to one band from Italy (Graveworm) and I would like more. But I want to see extreme bands.

Fleshgod Apocalypse (Tech Death)
Hour of Penance (Tech Death)
Void of Silence (Funeral Doom)

We were just discussing Fleshgod Apocalypse. That's one more. I also suggest you listen to the Italian Onirik, which is a Death Metal band who released a split album with Fleshgod Apocalypse and other DM and Grindcore bands from Italia. I can't think of any others right now. But I'm pretty sure there is more :)

Deathspell Omega ("Avant" Black Metal)
Ufomammut (Stoner/Sludge/Doom. Not extreme, but still good)
Ephel Duath (Weird mix of Jazz and Black metal)
Enoch (Funeral Doom)

Whoa, that is out of the ordinary for Mastodon. I was expecting the new album to have similar artistic style to the last few albums so this one took me by surprise.

I'm starting to enjoy Oracles alot more now and I can see what you meant about Mafia being more melodic. There's a song from the upcoming album incase you weren't aware. They seem to making alot more use of the orchestral instruments than in the other albums.

Recently, The Project Hate has become my favorite band. Their first album was great, and they only get better from there, at least in my opinion. Plus, Lord K responds to emails that fans send to him, including mine. What do you guys think of the band?

Also, how are the riffs I'm writing? I'm pretty sure I'm still a lot better at programming drums than guitars.

I think it would be

oo (like who) - foh (like poe) - mah (like ma, like you would refer to yer ma) - moot (like poot), with the emphasis being on the first syllable. so, OO-foh-mah-moot

Also, I've been meaning to check out Wo Fat.

also also

Have any of y'all seen Altered States, starring William Hurt? It's a bugged out movie, though the part where he ends up in the zoo was retarded. plus, there's the dick and balls...so, yeah....but still, it's a trippy ass movie.

I'm only bringing this up because somebody made a video with scenes from that using a song by Ufomammut.

Also Ufomammut is like my favorite thing to get ridiculously stoned to and stare at the posters on my ceiling.

If anybody has some recommendations for music or movies for the reefer, I'll check that shit out....check out that shit....

You can watch Mastodon's set at Sonisphere live here at 2:50, and Opeth's later on.

I'm not sure if this is UK exclusive.

Speaking of Mastodon, I find myself enjoying the Deathbound song more and more after repeated listens. Hopefully the new album will be even better.

On another note, I have a kickass Dio figurine as well as a Slough Feg Traveller T-Shirt.

Fuck, it's been a while. Now I remember why I come here so much... To see HeavenDuff argue with everyone. Anyway, I was looking through the pages I missed out on and saw Bahamut's Manilla Road Metal Monday plug, and that got me thinking. Have you ever listened to Dark Quarterer, Bahamut? Italian 80s trad heavy metal. I think you'd enjoy them quite a bit.

Thanks for the bands guys. I want to listen to bands from a variety of countries, and Italy would be next on my list. I'll check them all out.

I'm also still trying to decide on something. Should I get an album, or a Dark Funeral T-shirt? I really would like to purchase the album, to support the band and all, but that Dark Funeral T-shirt is just amazing. What would you get in my situation?

Depends. Does the shirt have the album cover of the CD you want to buy? If so I would buy the CD before the shirt... or both. Just seems if you're gonna buy a shirt with an album cover at least own the CD. Unless if you have heard all of the album. Just would suck if someone was like, "Hell yeah man that's an awesome CD." But you haven't listened to it yet.

This week's Metal Monday choice is Brocas Helm!

You know, the name Dark Quarterer actually rings a bell. I might have caught the name on Shadow Kingdom Records when I was browsing their store to see what caught my eye. That's how I ended up looking into Longings Past despite your recommendation from a while back. As for Dark Quarterer, some good stuff right here. I'll have to consider getting one of their albums whenever I order anything from Shadow Kingdom again (i.e. the release of the new Manilla Road album).

It sounds great so far :) I like the classical elements just how they are used. They manage to stick to their Brutal Tech Death sound even with such melodic elements. It's amazing, I'm definitely going to check the whole thing when it comes out :)

Get the shirt if you want to support the band. Album sales don't really do much for bands.
