At the London meet, me and Coop were singing Ace of Spades and he had his Maiden T-Shirt while I had my Black Sabbath T-Shirt. That had to be a very metal moment in my life. Picture below.

Also, on the topic of sound production. I'm not really picky just as long as the music is loud and clear and feels energetic enough.

I don't think that even needs to be stated. :P I'd say Mustaine was the one who made Metallica.

Whiny? What?

After Valkyries there's Control the Divine. An epic little number with good guitar and drum work. I can't call it amazing, but it's one of the better songs on the album.

That's funny because I find Valkyries and Control the Divine to be the weakest songs on the album.

I would have expected to pick up little things like these but I didn't. Then again, Slayer's and Anthrax's later albums are non-existent to me considering how little I've listened to them.

It's either Bat for Lashes or Imogen Heap. At the moment I perfer the albums of BfL but I wouldn't travel almost the length of the country for BfL which I am doing for Imogen. So it's probably Imogen Heap.

So I was at a party yesterday and I expected to be incredibly bored because I hardly knew anyone there. Then I started talking with this chick's dad and we got in a 2 hour long talk about metal, it was bad-ass. He was very knowledgeable. Then all the totally cool scene kids started blasting core and as soon as I heard that I took their iPod and replaced it with mine. We listened to Manowar for the rest of the party. The best part was when these two little girls, probably 6 or 7 years old started dancing and pretended to play the instruments.

I feel accomplished knowing that I got some kids into good music at an early age.

Also I realize that there might be a lot of tension and hate here. But we will always be brothers, Brothers of Metal.

A party with Manowar is better than a party without. Always.
I remember being in a pub with some folks before I went to see Electric Wizard down the road and they had Manowar on the jukebox. Even if their music isn't amazingly outstanding there is just something about hearing Manowar that makes life a little bit better :).

It's Youtube bro. Don't be a production whore anyway, that's for emo's a sceney boppers.

It's quarter past six in the morning. I miss having a girlfriend. Metal..... Metal will be my friend through this sorrow. Actually I've just thought about it and I can't have sex with metal so I'm going to has a sad.

You can dislike a specific genre of music because of the production, but I get what you mean and the "that's for emo's a sceney boppers." made me lol :)
It's true that these kids wouldn't like hardcore music if it was not produced the way it is. Just think about As I Lay Dying... When they first started, their sound was so different. I swear I never met any AILD fans who knew about their first few albums or liked that material.

Production can still change something to the way you will listen to the music though. Just listen to this song by Suffocation. And then listen to it when they play it live. There is a recording of a live show they did in Quebec but I couldn't find these tracks on YouTube. Anyway, the sound is not the same. While Suffocation had a sound that was closer to Old-School Death Metal sound on their earlier albums, they now record with a Modern Death Metal sound. There is a difference, not located in the riffs, but in the ambience and general feeling of the song.

My favourite album of all time is Dream Theater's Awake. I think the vocal performance is the best I have ever heard out of any singing on any album. The guitar, better than anything I've ever heard. The drumming fantastic. The way they play around with themes. I know everything that's going to happen, but it doesn't put me off because I want it to happen, unlike say in Megadeth's Symphony of Destruction, I know everything that's going to happen but I don't enjoy it because it's predictable.

Awake is just my favourite album ever. It is yet to be topped in love. I love some other albums a lot but nothing like my love for Awake.

Best. Album. Ever.

Similar stories?

Fucking Filosofem is so good. Great black metal album.

Oh yeah and Bullet for my Valentine are really shit.

I was giving Testament's The Legacy and Exodus' Bonded by Blood a listen today and I probably underestimated both albums. Although The Legacy is still a 6/10 or 7/10 for me, there's still some good stuff found in the album. As for Bonded by Blood, it's rifftastic.
