Recently I got really into Stoner Doom and I've always had that thing for Tolkien influenced metal and I tried mixing shits from both universes together.

Stoned Dwarves
High Over Mount Doom

And if you really want some stoner/sludge names. I can give it a try. It could be funny

- Weed Magnet
- Blunterized
- Numb Distortion
- Give Me Bacon (totally unrelated, but I think that's kind of the point. Does it even have to make sense? Cause once you start flying, nothing really matters)
- Acid Bath (oh wait...)
- Mushtache (Can't say why, but the idea of mixing Mushroom and Mustache made me laugh)

In fact, anything with too much of the letters "Z" and "W" would do. Can't think of anyone right now though :P

Remember to tell me what you think about those. Even if you think that they suck. I had a good time thinking about those :D

Me...

Metal is much more sophisticated than this...
In fact, even if Death Metal is one of my favorite metal genres, I can't stand all these gore shits anymore. These stupid lyrics are ruinning the music. I mean, there is so much work on the riffs, so much work on the drums and such great bass lines. Even the vocals are great. But why is it that the lyrics must sound like they were written in 10 minutes after the band took three years to write their fucking album?

It's ridiculous and makes us metalheads look like retarded teenagers. Not like I really care about what people think. But when you are having an argument with someone, explaining him why metal is such a great add to the history of music. You tell them about the great atmospheres created by the music, creativity, raw talent and skill and so on. But then you get to the lyrics...
So many bands have great lyrics, but when it comes to Death Metal and a lot of Black Metal... it just goes down. At least bands like Benighted and Origin keep it up. Even if they are quite brutal, the lyrics are still good.

No really, I can still have a great laugh listenning to Cliteater, but Blood Red Throne and the such should move on to something better.

Everyone who isn't in a death or grind band.

See what I mean...

:'(

It sucks cause everytime I discuss metal with non-metalheads and tell them about Death Metal, they always make dead babies joke. Please!! Leave us alone, we are not shitdeathcore you fags :'(

I have always liked the name Schizophrenic Enlightenment.

Never thought of that name before but HELL YES, that is one awesome band name.

Your nickname and signature pic would suggest that you are asian. How are you named Luke? :O

Lucas is my real name. Ruukasu is Japanese modified version of it. Aside from being a metalhead, sorry for going off subject, I'm also interested in Japanese culture. Those are what made me interested in wide varieties of metal. Sorry I took too long to respond, HeavenDuff.

Cable metal channel? I used to go on there, until I realized that they mostly put on shitty core bands. Then I just stopped.

I think they're switching genres on me. The first time I listened to it it sounded like some sort of blackened/brutal death metal. Now I just found out that Hatebreed was playing a while ago.

True man. I'm not into the kind of metal that I would assume most people here listen to. I'm a Death Metal guy, mostly. I also do listen to a lot of Black and Thrash metal, too.

And dead baby jokes are funny. How about we all check out Devourment, they are a perfect example of what awesome death metal should be about.

Gore is boring as fuck. No one is afraid, offended or scared of gore anymore. It's just for people who've ran out of Satan lyrics.

Also heaviness and brutality reached its peak with early Carcass. Everything after that is people who are pathetic and a constant embarrassment to their parents.

More Mayhem-ness. Now I knew that one of the members was suicidal and one was murdered but this, this is just fucked up. / begin copy paste.

Formed around 1985 by Necrobutcher and guitarist Euronymous (born Oystein Aarseth), Mayhem was the first death metal band from Norway to make much of an impact in their homeland, which in the early '90s developed a burgeoning underground scene rife with violent, sometimes anti-Christian activity -- as evidenced by Mayhem's non-musical history. Drummer Hellhammer, who at one time worked in a mental hospital, is the only remaining member of the band's prime-period lineup. Lead vocalist Dead committed suicide in 1991 (two years after joining the band) by shooting himself in the head; Hellhammer made a necklace using some of his skull fragments, and Euronymous reportedly cooked and ate pieces of Dead's brain. Euronymous, in turn, was stabbed to death while in his underwear on August 10, 1993, by the band's bass player, Count Grishnackh (born Christian Vikernes). Grishnackh's alleged motive was jealousy over the fact that Euronymous had a more evil reputation; he inflicted 23 separate wounds, it was also rumored, so as to outdo rival band Emperor's drummer, Faust, who was convicted in the stabbing death of a homosexual acquaintance. When police arrested Grishnackh, they found over 150 kg of stolen dynamite in his house, complete with a plan to blow up a large church on a religious holiday. Grishnackh went on to pursue his electronic-influenced project Burzum while in prison; meanwhile, Euronymous' parents requested that his bass tracks be erased from Mayhem's 1994 album, De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, (which featured session vocalist Attila Csihar). Still, thanks to growing worldwide interest in Norwegian death metal, Mayhem product has continued to appear on the shelves into the next century. Hellhammer also put together a new Mayhem lineup, which has toured sporadically. During one such tour in 2003, a concert-goer in Norway received a fractured skull as a sheep head flew from the stage while band member Blasphemer was cutting the head away from the torso.

Abstract themes. Nothing that makes any sense to anyone other than the writer. We were gonna go with Triumph of Venus, but I'm open to other ideas. Sorry if I "exploded" earlier, mothballs just angers me.

So you really are making Stoner/Sludge only for the sound and not for the lyrical themes. I really thought that to be stoner you had to write lyrics about drugs.

Then yeah, tell us what you guys sing about so we can think of a better name.

No, not at all. Look at bands like Torche or Kylesa. I'm sure they smoke weed, but it's not their impetus for writing. I don't smoke either, I just love that kind of music.

Like I said, they're abstract and very personal. Right now we have a song called, Bury Me and My Ghosts but that's it.

What about Pareidolia or Apophenia Idio? They sound pretty cool and they could apply to lyrics with abstract themes.
