I mean, almost all(Not bill, lol) of the members in this club are teenagers themselves, or so young of adults that they might as well be consider teens.

Yet we all hate metalcore, because we all broke free of the media run trends.

I mean, that's what a 'wave' is - A trend.

That is not an excuse for liking a genre of music. If you don't like The Beatles your opinion shouldn't automatically change if you hear the beatles on the radio because their famous.

Whatever.

Helloween - Ride The Sky

I don't like all core, I like metalcore, and it's not because I am a teenager, I just love it, Metalcore touch me in all the ways, hate, love, religion... everything, it's just so melodic, fast, breakdowns probably too much but depend which band you're hearing, some times I just listen to some Trivium song and say to myself... what... the... fuck... exist excelent metalcore stuff, and all the shit I compose too it's all Metalcore with Black, Thrash or Death influences...

Mastodon - Iron Tusk

Nu-Metal/Metalcore. Metal Hell Metal is not just music, is a life...

Its funny because hating metalcore is a bigger trend than the genre itself.

Go to warped tour next year and tell me that the hate the metal community has for metalcore is bigger than the metalcore community.

What i mean is that i find it ironic that so many people who listen to metal call people who like metalcore "posers"and such things, even though a poser is somebody who is trying to fit in, and the metalcore haters are trying to fit in more than the people who listen to metalcore.
Its stupid anyway that people see metal as some kind of community that you can be a member of only if you listen to the right bands.
There's no such thing as "true metal" and "false metal". It sounds like a bunch of stupid bullshit from a Manowar song.

I don't even consider that a legitimate genre. :P

So i've been researching pirate metal bands since I saw both Swashbuckle and Alestorm in this past week and.....I think I have a complete list of metal bands who are pirate themedwho have albums out.

The ones you all know:
Running Wild - Like a million albums
Swashbuckle - Two albums
Alestorm - Two albums

The ones no one has heard of:

Skull Branded Pirates - One album - Power Metal, Folk Metal
Los Pirates - One album - Power Metal
Verbal Deception - One album - Death Metal, Folk Metal
Dom Vetrov - One album - Folk Metal
Cauldron Black Ram - One album - Black Metal, Death Metal
Abordazh - One album - Power Metal

I've also listened to Scuurvy(power metal) and Pirates of Acheron(Thrash Metal) whom both have their first albums coming out sometime next year.

So yeah, as you guys can tell - I have way to much time on my hands.

Heavy Metal is a genre. There was a wave of British HM in the 70s.
That wasn't a trend as those bands are still huge names in Metal.

So i've been researching pirate metal bands

Oh, and Pirate Metal is a legitimate genre?

I know, but the fact that it's impossible to be a "heavy metal" band today makes it seem like it's not even a genre.

Most of those bands could be classified as power metal or thrash metal IMO.

I think Heavy Metal is just the universal term used to describe all metal bands, period.

I don't consider it a genre.

No, if you looked next to the band names I wrote there genres.

It's easier to say "Pirate metal" than "Pirate themed metal bands that can be power metal, thrash metal, death metal or folk metal"

Just like how people say "Viking Metal" instead of "Metal that has viking themed lyrics!"

Well you're wrong.

Look at Iron Maiden? They're not Power or Thrash.
Manowar? A bit Powery at times, but on the whole they're not, especially their early stuff.
Slough Feg could be considered HM.
Motorhead.
Saxon
Judas Priest

I agree with Nev here. Iron Maiden isn't thrash or power, and same with Saxon and Judas Priest. They don't fit into any other genre except standard metal. I just consider them straight up metal.

My arguments with Duff are rather new. Well, for myself at least as I barely know anything about black metal. All I've learnt so far is that symphonic black metal is apparently not very welcomed amongst the underground fans.

I think Symphonic Black Metal can be good. Maybe SBM as too many gay Icon bands...
like Cradle Of Filth and Dimmu Borgir.
But bands like Illnath, Abigail Williams, Anthelion and The Kovenant are awesome SBM bands :)

I can't talk about Metal without make reference to Metalcore... because that's my wave... and I won't hide myself much longer, I am a true metalcore fan... it's like I am The Unwise "Metalcore" Poet... fuck! fuck! fuck!

I can't see people complainning about The Human Abstract and All That Remains, because they are both very good bands with very good musicians.

So yeah... even if you are a core-fag...
some of us also are members of Nu-Metal/Metalcore crew... so you don't have anything to be embarassed about :)

There as been waves of Thrash Metal in the 80's. It's not making bands like Megadeath poor bands...

That's really not what I meant. In fact that was more like a question. I really didn't know what he meant by white noise. And the link I posted was the only concept I knew about white noise.

So when your talking about white noise... what exactly are you talking about? Not that thing with ghosts and stuff I assume.

Its when all the frequencies across the spectrum (of human hearing) are present at the same level (that may not be necessary).

Turn on a radio and tune it to no station. That horrible cracking/buzzing is white noise.

In the Opeth vein of things - Ie. Prog Death:
Blotted Science (instrumental)
Cynic
Death
Gojira
Gonin-Ish

Minus the Death:
Devin Townsend/The Devin Townsend Band
Green Carnatino
Liquid Tension Experiment (Dream Theater minus a singer and with a different bassist)
Psychotic Waltz
Spastic Ink (first album instrumental, second not so)
Symphony X
Tesseract
Vanden Plas

Vanden Plas couldn't be ripping off Dream Theater more if they tried. And Ani will argue about Symphony X's differences, but they're incredibly alike. And Russell is a way better singer.

These two bands have already been mentioned, but I'm going to second them for their amazingness. Symphony X and Gojira. Both are great bands, and Michael Romeo (Symphony X) is probably my favorite guitarist ever. Two bands that haven't been mentioned:

Porcupine Tree: More rock than metal, but they drift that way every so often, but they still kick ass (particularly In Absentia and Deadwing)

Voivod: Arguably the first progressive thrash band ever. Their earlier stuff is more thrashy (think Kill 'em All) but they migrate into more progressive territory. I highly recommend Nothingface and Dimension Hatross.
