I love melodic death metal, but I think that it's one of the easiest metal genre to listen to. There is catchy clean vocals, catchy clean guitar melodies and stuff like this. It's not bad. But can you consider that a "melodeath only" fan really knows a lot about metal if he can't stand death metal?

It wasn't just directed at you, but I do see where you are coming from. I agree that when people only like one type of metal and then claim they are "hardcore" but the way you wrote your post seemed to show that you had a disdain for melodeath and symphonic black metal. The only thing that annoys me more than a person who is a total poser is someone who bashes genres and/or bands for no apparent reason. I get enough of that in school from uneducated idiots who think all metal is death metal and black metal, and that I instantly must be suicidal or wrist-slitting.

It doesn't make sense to hate on something without a cause. Blind loathing is just pathetic and silly and useless. My brothers and I here in this club hate on certain bands and genres for a reason, usually that being that they are not metal.

I do not believe not liking them is a good reason. If you don't like say so...then continue on. You don't have to go onto a rant about how much they suck and why. If they are not metal, that is a good reason because, as I stated before, this is METAL Hell. But not liking them is a terrible reason.

I didn't say that I don't like things that aren't metal. I have lots of classic rock, some pop (very little) and classic prog. I said I wouldn't mind nearly as much if you bashed it in this club if someone brings it up, because it is NOT metal, and this is specifically a METAL club. But first, I would recommend trying to steer them away from that topic, because it is not what this club is oriented at.

To be honest, I've never heard of Marduk, but I'll assume they are very mainstream as Dent says.
And I imagine CoF are more mainstream, I'd guess that Dimmu were too. But that doesn't mean Marduk can't be slightly behind those two.
