I'd say Progressive Deathcore. So instead of startinga new fight about how core sucks balls and isn't metal. I'll just leave it that way :)

So Nev, what do you think of my lists, "brother of the Metal Hell"? :P
Also... all the bashing on DragonForce needs to stop.
They are talented musicians and I understand why Dr says ZP is an original vocalist. He may be singing a type of vocals that is already really popular, but he brings it to another level and since he has to follow very fast paced music with his vocals, he does bring something original to the power metal scene. I don't think their was a band that played this fast on the power metal scene before them. So... like them or not, they are quite original...
They have changed something on the Power Metal scene. They have very quick transitions, fast paced music, nice melodies and Valley Of The Damned was very innovative on the power metal scene.
The problem with DF is that they are not bringing anything new from album to album. They stay pretty much exactly the same, and I think their music is going down a level with each release. Valley Of The Damned being their best album.
But I would never say that DF deserves a place in any top 10 albums of the decade.
I stick to my own list :P

Eh. Fair enough. I think they are just a little too artsy fartsy to be metal, now that I think about it.

Exactly my sentiments. I think I might have overstepped when I said it should be on every list, I think what I should have said is that they deserve to be recognized as a changing point and a fresh new band in the decade.

Yes the fuck they do. They're one of the most famous actual metal bands today, and they brought power metal into the mainstream.
I remember one day in my senior year in high school, I was listening to Angra and one of my classmates came up to me and asked "is that Dragonforce?". I somehow took offense as if they weren't similar and was all "NOOOO". A silly bayustid is me.

why, yes. Yes, I am. though I got awesome posters for Christmas as well. really cool Jimi Hendrix door poster and another really cool Led Zeppelin fabric poster. also, fucking crazy Bob Marley blinds for my windows. one of him playing his guitar and one with a lion's head coming out of the back of his head. And I got this really nice star-shaped (with 8 points) wall-hanging decoration of a green man face. just hung up all that stuff today, except the Hendrix poster, which needs a frame. My new room keeps getting more and more outrageously awesome.

Power metal isn't mainstream in North America with the soul exceptions of Manowar and Dragonforce.
If you're anywhere else in the world, power metal was ALREADY mainstream.

Yeah, they're definitely not a serious band. The lyrics made me lol, though.
And yes, they're terrible.
top 20 metal albums of the decade:

Solefald - Black For Death: an Icelandic Odyssey Part 2
Symphony X - the Odyssey
Týr - Ragnarok

Ufomammut - Snailking

And just because I didn't include Solefald's in Harmonia Universali doesn't mean I wouldn't fuck it raw and nut inside it if it were a woman.

It doesn't matter whether they're mainstream or not, they still have mainstream-level recognition due to GHIII, and your point that "no one thinks of dragonforce" is therefore wrong.
At 12/31/09 02:59 PM, DrMafesto wrote: A lot of lists contain muse on them. Are they really that great of a band?
Ever since Absolution, no.
Before and including Absolution, yes.
And their live show is amazing.
So I suppose they are that great a band. They're just failing to be as good as they were.

I've only heard of Discovery and Black Holes. And Discovery is obviously tits. And Black Holes I've only heard a few songs off and I felt they lack what I like about Muse... which is Absolution and its incredibly apocalyptic sound... besides Absolution (and New Born + a few others from Origins...) I couldn't really care :P.

Not in the UK its not.
And I doubt most of the Middle East has taken to it either.
Here's my top 20 non-metal albums of the decade. Don't think less of this list just because it will include video game and anime soundtracks (also a soundtrack to a certain Norwegian movie that I've never seen). The soundtracks included are just genuinely great and are among the best music albums that have been released this decade, regardless of the quality of the works for which they were used.
Battles - Mirrored
Boards of Canada - the Campfire Headphase
Boris - Heavy Rocks (counting it as stoner rock)
Boris - Pink
Don Caballero - American Don
King Crimson - the Power to Believe
Noriyuki Asakura - Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven Original Soundtrack
Noriyuki Asakura - Way of the Samurai Original Soundtrack
Plaid - Tekkon Kinkreet Original Soundtrack
Professor Fate - the Inferno
Radiohead - Kid A
Thievery Corporation - the Richest Man in Babylon
Tool - 10,000 Days
Tool - Lateralus
Ulver - Blood Inside
Ulver - Perdition City
Ulver - Svidd Neger
Ulver - a Quick Fix of Melancholy
Various Artists - Boogiepop Phantom Original Soundtrack
Various Artists - Final Fantasy 10 Original Soundtrack (likely the only JRPG OST I'd regard so highly)

Happy New Year everyone. Let's hope this new decade brings us some awesome new metal albums/bands.
The last full song of 2009 I listened to was Vital Remains-Dechristianize. WOO 2010. I predict a year full of fucked up events, earthquakes, sex scandels and plenty of epic metal albums and videos.

I wish the singer died instead.

Yeah, there was a topic about it in general. I wish the guitarists would die in a freak accident of some sort. They're really the worst part of the band in my opinion.
Fuck you guys are pricks. >=(
Get rid of the whole band.

I thought Ultra Beatdown was their weakest. That was the album that really showed no progression with their music. It really disappointed me when I hoped they'd at least change something but that's not something they considered. I could hope they actually do it for their next album but chances are, I'm only going to be disappointed again.

Here are my favorites:
1. Ashes Against The Grain - Agalloch
2. The Machinations Of Dementia - Blotted Science
3. Altered Genesis - Blood Red Throne
4. Icon - Benighted
8. Wintersun - Wintersun
20. Roomservice - Panzerchrist
Nice list, ''Roomservice'' Of course! And ''Altered Genesis'' with the song: Tortured Soul Appearance= Awesome! It's kind of funny that your top albums(excluding agalloch) are all death metal bands.

Melodic death metal band seems to be very popular in the world(Example: CoB or In flames). Samething in black metal with ''melodic or symphonic black metal band'' such as Dimmu Borgir.
My point is that Melodic bands seems to be ''easy listening'' for metalheads and non-metalheads.. Try to listen some Brain Drill for the fisrt time and you will need to take a Big brutal breath! lol.
