God is an Astronaut is some good post-rock, as are From Monument to Masses.

Also worth noting is Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, and Sigur Ros.

Went to see porcupine Tree, King's X and The Masochist Divine last night despite it being all the way in boston, a sunday night AND 45 fucking bucks...
Needless to say, Immaculate is to small of a word to describe the show.

Last show I went to was Exodus in june. I can't really say much because I had never heard them before, but the show was kick ass. Great stage presence, even if the venue was small.

Yeah, pretty great live.
When I saw them with kreator(And others) they played four songs off BBB, The Toxic Waltz, Riot Act, Children Of A Worthless God and a song off their upcoming album.
Opeth - Blackrose Immortal, Opeth's longest and one of there best IMO.

I was talking about SomaGuye, who did say one of two bands.

Thanks for the rec's guys <3
I forgot to mention I already have and enjoy Pelican.
This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.

Bruce had every right to be annoyed at the beer thrower since such abuse in concerts can be distracting and cause an inconvenience to those who came to see them play live.

I tried Pelican months ago and thought they were fine. I've forgotten what they sound like now so I should give them a try again and make a better decision on what I think of their music.

I for one love having glass bottles chucked at me when I'm trying to work and would definitely not yell at someone for doing so. I would totally thank that person if the glass bottle chucked at me contained some beer.
That said, I don't live in reality, obviously.

All this talk of having shit thrown at you onstage has me thinking. I, myself, would kill the fucker. That's just me though.

I should kick your ass for that. But that would make me a bigger pussy. Fuck. What a dilema.

I think its quite shit. So repetitive.
Bruce had something thrown at him at Download 2007 and his response was 'Everyone around that little shit make sure he doesn't leave here walking'.

Nothing is repetitive about that song at all.
What are you on?
Posted at: 9/29/09 05:46 PM
Aww, don't say that, I'm listening to it right now, and I enjoy it thoroughly, even though it is lengthy. I don't care much for the whispering parts though. The instrumentation is top notch, and the acoustic guitars have that distinct dark folk sound going on. I do like Orchid better though.

Opeth really push the amount of times they repeat their riffs to the limit. They do it on pretty much every song, but its all the more unbearable on Morningrise due to the length of those songs.

I wouldn't really know. Doom does it, but its done in a way that works.

Essential black metal song: Ambient sounds at beginning Driving and swift high gain chord progression Screaming, of course Incredibly low sounding toms that shake speakers Some sort of part where the guitar stops and it's screaming More chords, different progression

The only opeth song that really does that a ton is The Grand Conjuration.
Besides that, their riffs change slightly every time/=.
They do it on pretty much every song, but its all the more unbearable on Morningrise due to the length of those songs.
The only song on Morning Rise I don't think was amazing is Advent.

Holy shit, if there's another discussion about Pantera on here I'm going to vomit.
Anyway, I just got Vader's album Necropolis in the mail today, immediately I ripped the music onto my computer. All the songs are great, except for "The Seal" and "Summoning the Futura". Those are just shit.
