I did. But the way I see it is that my taste has evolved and now I'm listening to stuff that to for me is far superior. In comparrison, Pantera are shit and they didn't have the staying power of Megadeth.

Alright, hey everybody! I absolutely HATE Iron Maiden - In my opinion they are incredibly boring, their guitarists(all of them) are totally overrated and their lyrics are shit.

Also, you can never hear the bass guitar, and don't even try to point out the obvious countless number of songs where you can hear the bass, because my opinion will stay the same about that too!

Also, while I acknowledge I thought they were great once, I have moved on to other bands like Judas Priest who are obviously superior while being jsut as much overrated!

It's like eating ready made pasta meals from a supermarket, and then moving to Italy and marrying a totally babelicious Italian cook, who cooks you delicious authentic pasta dishes whilst sucking your dick.

Seriously, shut up. Pantera aren't the best band, and they aren't the most influencial.

But guess what? THEY WERE NOTHING BUT METAL AND IN THE LATE 80'S AND 90'S THEY THRASHED, HARD.

Fuck Grove Metal, I don't even consider that a legitimate genre - In my opinion, they were thrash metal but just a different style of thrash.

Calling Grove Metal a different genre from thrash metal is like saying Speed Metal is a different genre from power metal.

John Petrucci is totally the best guitarist in Dream Theater!

I actually agree :).
Though I don't give a shit about lyrics.

I didn't even say anything to that effect.
I never dissed any of Pantera's talent. I just don't like the band, I don't like the music.
It's like you arguing that I'm not allowed to feel how I feel about their music.

But guess what? THEY WERE NOTHING BUT METAL AND IN THE LATE 80'S AND 90'S THEY THRASHED, HARD.

So what?

Calling Grove Metal a different genre from thrash metal is like saying Speed Metal is a different genre from power metal.

Well, it is.
Bands like Racer X and Cacophony are nothing like bands like Rhapsody, Sonata Arctica.
Just because your Helloween and Blind Guardian are the like have dabbled with both of them doesn't mean they're the same thing.

You can't forget to add Martin Lopez. Though I guess that's kind of a given... Seeing as he's definitely up there with the best.

I honestly feel opeth's new drummer is much more innovative and original than Lopez.

Buddy Rich and Dave Weckyl are jazz drummers, you can't compare them to rock and metal drummers.

Neil Peart and Dave Lombardo are both legends, they're better than just about everyone.

Vinne Paul is still a comptent drummer. He's not the best, but he's by no means a bad musician.

I'm sorry if I implied that he's a bad musician. I didn't mean that in any way. People just worship him like he's a drumming God when he's pretty average.

I disagree. I mean, I'm not a drummer, and I haven't heard Martin Axenrot drum on six separate albums, but Martin Lopez seems like a much better drummer. To me, on Watershed, it sounded like Axenrot used the same technique/fill (I don't know what it's called) in a lot of the songs. Not to say he's not a good drummer, but not as good as Lopez in my opnion.

Speaking of which, do you guys think there album Damnation was tremendously hated by people who listened to it expecting death metal?

I don't really know that many people who are into Opeth, and everyone I know who is liked Damnation.

No, there is such a thing as GOOD metal and BAD metal.

And there is such a thing as real metal and no-metal.

That totally explains why the MA allowed them, Damageplan, Superjoint Ritual, and Down on the site.

MA isn't the bible, cock stain.

Last I checked, Pantera has guitar solos and the drums don't sound like garbage cans.

I'm talking about the MUSIC. Not the drums and solos.

Of course you think Paul Mazurkiewicz is a good drummer, so you really can't talk.

Already explained that, let it go. I said is good. Not as good as others.

I had a Metallica/Megadeth thing when I started listening to metal. But now I dislike listening to them. I mean, I know how every Megadeth song goes now. It's enough for me.

No, there is such a thing as GOOD metal and BAD metal.
And there is such a thing as real metal and no-metal.

There are hard rock bands that get labeled heavy metal, that's the only exception. However, those bands were considered metal for their time and they influenced heavier sounding bands.

That totally explains why the MA allowed them, Damageplan, Superjoint Ritual, and Down on the site.
MA isn't the bible, cock stain.

Too bad that's the site we use for our guidelines.

Last I checked, Pantera has guitar solos and the drums don't sound like garbage cans.
I'm talking about the MUSIC. Not the drums and solos.

And that's why Pantera's music doesn't sound like St. Anger.

True, but in METAL tribute bands are rare.

Surprisingly not in this area. My sister goes to a place on Fridays where there's actually a lot of tribute playing there. She started going a month or two ago and I really need to see what the place is like myself.

Hey I may be new here and all but I sure love me some METAL. Anyways I recently in the past couple of days took an interest in Slipknot's music and found one of the most comical videos of all time in my opinion that is. Here is the link to it on YouTube. Slipknot - Wait and Bleed (Radio Disney Version)

Epic video is epic.

I didn't say he was a better drummer, just a more original drummer with his style.

I think Lopez is, all in all, a better drummer.
