Nice use of sarcasm. One reason I like metal is because metalheads usually have a sense of humour, however sardonic it is. Usually they don't take life seriously at all, and it's reflected in the music. One thing that separates numetal from regular metal is that numetal takes itself way too seriously (lyrical fodder is usually "I'm gonna fuck you up, payback's a bitch, [insert excessive swearing here], you don't know what you're getting in to, you're a fucking pussy bitch, etc...) and tries to pass itself off as badass and intimidating. However, the stereotypical metalhead can't be intimidated, so that's how you can tell an outsider. Metalheads don't try to intimidate other metalheads, they try to share comraderie and brotherhood. Real metal lyrics are about brotherhood, love for fellow metalheads and hatred for non-metalheads, not generic falsified anger and restrained rage.

Jokes aside, I agree with what you just said. It's totally true. Other genres have these little wars (East Coast v. West Coast hip hop) or "indier than thou" attitudes, but real metalheads will be like "you like metal? i like metal too. hell yeah"
