also, I wrote 4 songs while I was in the loony bin.

The Glass Walls (A long-ish speed metal number)
Starborn Children of War (A not so long speed metal number)
Space Love (A slow 16-beat power metal love song)
Unsaved (An even slower depressing waltz about death and decay)

And for once my lyrics are easy to sing and they rhyme. For instance, a sample stanza from Unsaved:

The fields in his domain lay fallow
As their master's heart died hollow
Lifeless he laid, his fate had been made
No angel would mourn the farewell he bade

And a sample verse from Space Love:

Upon vanquished eyes you gaze

I've been to jail once and to the mental hospital 3 times.

That's my favorite Megadeth album. Holy Wars, Hangar 18, and Tornado of Souls kick unholy amounts of ass.

Reign in Blood isn't, but there is diversity on some of their other stuff (namely Hell Awaits).

Also stay away from the albums that don't feature Dave Lombardo on drums.

As it just so happens, I really can't stand Megadeth. They only have two albums that strike my interest and they suffer from a horrible vocalist and simplistic drumming. The guitar work is varied, but that's their only strong point.

Slayer and Megadeth are mediocre at best, I feel that Megadeth is just a crappy (early) Metallica wannabe, but they still have some ok stuff, especially if you compare it to Metallica's more recent stuff...at least slayer is more unique, though I dont like Aryia's vox.

If you want good thrash try Testament or Metallica...early Metallica (Kill Em All and Ride the Lightning)...for me I more prefer Black Metal or Death Metal when it comes to the Metal genre, because black metal is so goddamn poetic and death metal is just so fast paced, in your face, talking about vile shit.

If I were to point you into thrash tho, Id say Testament (early) and Metallica (early)...possibly Possessed, but deffintly not Slayer and Megadeth.
