I think I'm leaving the club. It was fun, but I now realize what it really is, a way for people to stroke their e-penis because they think they are either more brutal, more kvlt, or superior because they are powerfags. I read the first few pages of this thread and I like the way it started, people discovering metal together, now if your band list isn't obscure enough you can't get in. When the discussion is music it's usually just arguing about whether iron maiden/Judas priest are good or gay. So, uhh, gewd bye.

I am excited to be seeing Iron Maiden for the first time (!). I figure I may not get a chance to see them on the second leg at a city near me, so this could be very worthwhile. They are going on a ridiculously extensive tour with only two or three stops in USA and Canada, which I think is cool. I think its even better that one of those stops is 20 minutes away.

Fintroll and Ensfirum are the obvious bets if you don't know them already. If you like something a little more progressive, Moonsorrow or perhaps Windir. You may like Skyclad too.

I agree. Because when it boils down to it, most of the time they generally don't know much about it at all, or lack experience.

Amazing, and that's good to know. Tix are $40 a piece for upper deck, and I can't afford anything more. Still, I'm sure they're going to have a huge, awesome set to make up for it. Plus, its Maiden - how could anybody go wrong?

Never listened to Cybergrind, but it sounds interesting. I may check it out. Death metal recommendations from me would be same as always, I don't think anything new has come out and my favorites haven't changed. Though they aren't really completely death metal, "buy" the new Opeth live album - The Roundhouse Tapes, and give it a spin. I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a good show, the music sounded great and Mikael Akerfeldt's banter was pretentious as hell, but really funny. Definitely worth a listen, especially if you like Opeth (which is understandibly touchy).
