No, I have a good friend who is awesome at guitar and appreciates every style of music, except extreme metal (with 1 or 2 exceptions)

I have read his post about not leaving, but it would still be un-metal.

I don't like all that "Kvlt" shit, Norway in the 90's crap.

Like burzum, Old funeral, Mayhem, And all that stuff.

I'm more into the newer stuff like Belphegor, Anaal Nathrakh, Naglfar, Dark funeral, And I also like Marduk.

Hey hell, me is teh back now. My new home is pretty fucking excellent, cool location, excellent people around here, I'm already buying my tickets for Belphegor, Holy Moses and Obituary :D (Some great concerts around here).

My part of the flat is almost done, its just that the walls do feel a bit empty, but I'll be sure to plaster some shit onto the wall.

How are you guys doing? What have I missed?

NEWS FLASH: I am an asshole. I am negative. I am bitter. I'm a savant. I'm pretentious, I'm a dick. I was never "cool". I was always a dick to people, it's just that now I'm an asshole to you guys. I'm not supposed to be the well liked metal hell horseman. That's not my role. I'm supposed to be the bigbadron of the club. I'm harsh, and I don't take shit from nobody.

Yeah, some of that is true. But not all of it. You were cool, but in a different way. To me there has been a tangible change in attitude. That's why I wrote what I did.

X, I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to Kidd. Yeah, I liked black metal too, so it's possible a musically educated person could like bm. But all I'm saying is that as far as the musicians go, prog/power/heavy metallers tend to be more musically literate than bm/dm'ers. First off, you can't defend screaming. It's not musical. Don't try to tell me it's musical. Don't even try, because that will discredit you immediately.

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding but I won't re-neg on what I said. You are right, power metal and clean vocals are much more musically literate, in every sense of the word. I'm aware of that, and I respect that. Black metal isn't even my favorite genre anymore anyway, death metal is. I just think it isn't as bad as it was made out to be. Look at Emperor - they are credible musicians, though they are the exception and not the norm. Well done clean vox can severely compliment the music, but so can growls - I direct you to the two Mikaels - Akerfeldt and Stanne. Both have used (effectively, in my opinion) clean and growled vocals, and both highlight different motifs. I agree it may not be the most technically right, or always to most pleasing to listen to (generally speaking, but honestly, I love both of them - platonically).

If I want a good musicianship fix, I'll listen to some technical death. At that point its simply a matter of personal preference, which is fine with me. I haven't lost all respect for you, but there really is a tangible difference in both attitude and behavior. Maybe its my nostalgia speaking, maybe it isn't. Didn't you know I love prog anyway?

Speaking of future shows, I'm seeing Suffocation with Immolation and Skinless this Sunday, and most likely I will see Rotting Christ, Immolation, Belphegor and Averse Sefira as well in February. I was thinking about going to the Brooklyn Xecution Festival next month, but I'm not familiar with most of the bands except for Obituary and Incantation, so I might skip that one.
