Every year I try to sprinkle in a stray new location for an event. Two years ago it was Amsterdam and Melbourne, Australia. Last year it was Dublin and Glasgow (and bonus event in Toronto). This year one of them is Paris. So yea...
Where: Paris, France
When: March 11-12, 2011
What: Trying something new. Probably just a stray event without a reoccurring presence but who knows.

As much as I'd love to go to Paris (i.e. seeing the part of Paris that isn't Disneyland), this one is an easy no for me since 11th March is meant to be my final day of work with the school and the following day is my aunt's birthday.

As much as I'd love to come and see some of the NG users again before London I think Paris is maybe a little too exotic for me. I'm going to be boring and stick to UK meets only.
I've only been to the one meet and already I feel addicted. What have you done to me Luis? :(

stupid damn french, I'm still pissed that they surrendured to the Nazis in WWII without even TRYING to fight them. they just gave up as soon as they saw them.
to be fair, they would have died if they tried to fight, but still, get some pubes man.

I don't speak French and I'll be still at university, so I wouldn't be going. If this was perhaps delayed two or three months later, then I'll probably have to go and get lost on my way to the meet.
This too will pass.

Ugh, I'd totally be able to go to this if it wasn't so close to my birthday that I have to be in town for.

You know what: Maybe. Depends on how doom school is at the time.
It will be awkward what with the lack of speaking the language though. Luis are you going to translate :P

You should have posted this thread in August 2007. Back then, I was actually in Paris and it would have been a definite yes.

youre right. that serves me right for copying the code from something wrong to begin with. I'll fix it when Gory gives me an updated roster

I was excited for a second but then I remembered I can't afford a trip to Paris. Looks like a no here.
NYC is enough as it is when it comes to expenses...

On a related note, you all can find the "Fund Timmy's Trip to France" Kickstarter donations page here.
We can do this, people!

I'd be up for this if I was in my old job and could still swap days and shifts here and there. Now that I have kind of a proper job I can't just take holidays when I like.
Though if I was in my old job I wouldn't be able to afford it, so I probably wouldn't be going anyway.
Would have liked to go abroad for a meetup. Oh well, maybe once I win the lottery. Should really start actually playing it...

Why is that? So you can get pissed on French wine and spend all day eating French cheese whilst conversing with ignorant French people.

Why are meets not held in the U.S. or Canada? The only ones it seems are NYC and Montreal.
Well we were dumb enough to think it was gonna happen.

I looked at Eurostar, but it comes to £180 for a return for me. I also looked at flights and that works out at about £100 for a return. A flight is 1hour30mins, a Eurostar ride is just under 5hours30minutes.
(eurostar in economy, flights in economy)
