Just wanted to know what's the usual ratio between an animation length and the amount of work (or time) put into it. I understand that it depends on how fast one works, but it would be very much appreciated if someone can give me an estimate of how long it takes to make idk, let's say a 1 minute animation of a walk and jump.

Experience is the best teacher, but should we look ahead we've experienced knowing.

20 minutes for the roughs.
40 minutes for the linwork.
30 minutes for colouring and shading.

Totalling 1 hour 30 minutes
On average, of course you have to take into WHAT kinda of walk/jump. But a basic character and basic walk/jump would take bout that much time for me

It all depends on what you're asking for. What's the frame rate? Do you want just basic animation or the full cleaned up and coloured with BG and sound?

"animation length", like an animation in the sense of a completed project? Does this include recording/editing voice performances, sound effects and original music? Additional special effects? (looped effects animation)

Also the style of the animation. Streamlined cartoon characters are faster to animate than detailed humans in shiny battle armor with flowing cloth. At least this applies to me =P

Will there be a team with a structured work pipeline? This'll cut human hours drastically and quite frankly be a game changer.

..just stuff to help you think about your time equation.

Good luck,
-mm
