I would record my Audio and when i want to place my selection
tool somewhere, it selects a spot for me. Help me turn whatever this thing is off please.
I do that but it selects someplace else.
If it matters, the audio box has a gold box around it.
The yellow frame? It indicates but which channel is highlighted.
Restart the crap. Audacity is a bit buggy.
I don't think rebooting would accomplish anything useful.

I doubt that would help unless Audacity installed incorrectly, in which case it shouldn't be working at all.
OMG FUCK AUDACITY. IT"S SO GAY HOW CAN ANYONE STAND HOW SIMPLE THAT CRAP IS?
Sound Forge and
Audiacity isn't letting you you click there because it is shit and cannot be that precise. Stop being a cheap ass and take a step forward towards your path of editing audio.
Put your money where your interest is, pirate.
Buy Sound Forge.
Look at how much fucking cooler it looks. OMG IM JUST HAPPY IT'S NOT GREY! HAHAHAHA
The best $30 You'll spend towards audio editing! right here.
Which version of Audacity are you running, and is your computer's OS Windows 7? Make sure you have the Beta version 1.3.12, because the older version does not work correctly on Windows Vista or 7. And as of now, there is only provisional support for Windows 7 anyways, which means that they are still sorting out various bugs and you likely encountered one of them.
You may have to wait until official Windows 7 support is announced if you are indeed using that operating system.
I used to have this problem. Older versions of audacity snap to the second when you use the selection tool. Uninstall your current version of audacity and install the latest beta from the audacity website to be able to select between seconds. It worked for me

This is what you call "ignorant".
Strychnine and cyanide. A healthy part of this complete breakfast.
1. I deleted and redownloaded a different Version. Worked.
2. To the Dick swalowers(you know who you are),
Im not going to spend money on an Audio editing program that i will only
use to record for Animation. So my cheap ass is sticking to Audacity. It does what i want it to.
I use audacity and I don't have this problem at all. I'd suggest what others have said and updating whichever version you have. 1.3 works like a charm.
Also, talking shit about audacity is like talking shit about... shit... I don't know, really awesome finger-paintings that I worked super hard on. Slap that shit on the refrigerator.
