Prostitution is illegal for a great many reasons. First of all, think about how many people a prostitute has been with already. Chances are pretty good that she has at least one STD that she is going to pass onto you. Now consider that some of these women are victims of human trafficking (forcibly addicted to drugs and whored out). It happens. Women who chose to prostitute themselves are only strengthening an industry that dehumanizes women. Also, consider that if you sleep with a prostitute and then later you sleep with your wife/girlfriend and end up passing on the AIDS.

All in all, that moment of pleasure is not worth the problems it can generate.

Trying on shoes in the store is illegal for a great many reason. First of all, think about how many people tried on those shoes already. Chances are pretty good that it will pass on athlete's foot, or a number of other foot funguses on to you. Now consider that some of these shoes are a result of victims of forced child labor. It happens. Also, consider that if you share shoes with your wife (wait what?) you will pass on your foot fungus.

Like everything, if it was legalized it could be made safe and regulated by law. Imagine if it was run as a professional business, all the girls wold be put through std tests, none with them would be hired, it would be safer for everyone involved. If you didn't pay you would have the police called on you instead of whatever happens on the street when you don't pay (I imagine it isn't pleasant) Girls wouldn't get abused by their pimps, pimps would be legitimate business owners, Prostitutes wouldn't be murdered at free will because there would be a easily traced paper trail.

Basically, it would be safer and better for everyone involved if it was legalized. Only reason I can see that it isn't legal is because it is "immoral" and as a society we'd like to pretend it just doesn't happen, or that we at least don't tolerate it when it does.

Thats my un-educated opinion on prostitution.

Most prostitutes carry a lot of diseases and I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable fucking one.

Well, that was kind of what I was saying. It isn't legal because of old white men's ideals. They "made up" the idea of what order is. And selling fucking is disorder apparently.
