3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsYou know looking back at the heroes of video games, I'm seeing the patterns of the silent protagonist and backstory that I really don't care about. I can't get connected to these heroes even though that's the main character of the game. Yes there are wonderful heroes in wonderful video games, but when I play a game the one character that tends to stick out more to me has always been the villains.
You know more about the villains than anything else in the game for some reason. These are my five favorite villains of all time and what game I liked them the most in. If you list yours please state the game.
Also SPOILER ALERT.
5. Gares (Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen)
I put this guy on the list for how annoying he is, especially if you're going for the best ending. The first time you meet him is at Island Avalon, to get the best ending you must recruit the healer Aisha and send her unit against Gares to avenge her mother. However it gets worse, in other stage he clones himself as a regular enemy. But wait, it gets worse! The final stage has him as a boss as well. This guy has no mercy. Overall Gares is certainly the Dark Prince you won't be forgetting any time soon.
4. Nemesis (Resident Evil 3: Nemesis)
The game graced his name and for a reason. Gares may have been annoying with his appearances and fighting him wasn't much of a challenge, but still difficult. Nemesis on the other hand takes some patience and skill to take down and terrorizes you throughout the entire game. Not even a Rocket Launcher can take this guy out in one shot, speaking of which he's badass enough to carry one with him from time to time. Nemesis has one goal, that is to kill the S.T.A.R.S members and anyone who gets in his way. And guess one, you're S.T.A.R.S Member Jill Valentine. This is one of the scariest games I played and for the right reasons. When it comes to Nemesis, you'll be careful about turning that corner or pulling out that Magnum with him running around.
3. Bowser (Paper Mario)
I love Bowser as a boss, especially in Super Mario World and Super Mario 64. I even loved his baby incarnation in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. But that's all I did like him for and that was a boss. He has been beaten by Mario countless times and none of Bowser's plans worked out for him. Until the game "Paper Mario" came around. What did Bowser do? He stole a powerful Star Rod that could grant him any wish (Translation: Ultimate Power) and he enslaved the Seven Star Spirits who guarded the Star Rod (Translation: You Bowser's Bitches). Then he kidnapped Princess Peach, BY LIFTING HER CASTLE INTO THE SKY WITH HIS OWN CASTLE, then he beat Mario. Yeah... that's how this game starts, your first battle is with Bowser and you lose. Bowser actually had a wonderful plan this time around by entrusting each Star Spirit with a minion that were all challenging in their own right. Overall, Bowser was certainly a villain in this game and not just a fancy final boss. (The boss fight with him in this game is really cool though).
2. Chief Brian Irons (Resident Evil 2)
This game had it's share of villains. The only two you fought being William Birkin and Mr. X. The rest were just villains. You had Annette Birkin who I also like as a villain who is dynamic and a bit twisted, but my favorite has to go to Chief Brian Irons. You meet him when you play as Claire, the first thing you hear is a woman's scream from his office, then when you actually meet him the mayor's daughter is dead on his desk. He states that taxidermy used to be his hobby, but it is only after reading his diary that you learn that taxidermy still is his hobby. For 1998 this was some pretty twisted shit and this villain will always leave an impression on me.
1. Kefka (Final Fantasy III) / (Final Fantasy VI)
Hell yeah. To all you Sephiroth fans out there, yeah if I wanted to see one emo fight against another emo I'd go hang out around Myspace. Kefka is a true blue twisted villain with a plan in mind and he does the one thing that not many villains do. He succeeds. I won't explain much about him because that would kind of spoil it, I know I stated spoiler alert, but this is one guy that if I explain too much it ruins his entire character, however I will say this, when Kefka says he's gonna destroy the world, he actually destroys the fucking world. That and this guy's laugh will be known throughout video game history forever. Kefka, he's a mad magical clown with a lot on his mind and he would like to share it with you... how unfortunate for you.
I gotta go out on a limb here and say...
RED Spy.
Bowser, Lord Saddler, Ganondorf, Eggman and Wario.
It's not about the destination.
It's about the journey.
