The only reason he's such a shitty trainer is so the anime can continue. If Ash beat a single Pokémon League, then he'd be crowned Pokémon Master and he'd have completed his goal. Then they'd have to introduce a new character to replace Ash, which would lead to the raging of people who grew up with the series (people who liked it when it was popular and stopped liking it when it wasn't).

I am going to argue that Iam the worst Pokemon trainer, more so than Ash. The only Pokemon I've played is Red and I haven't gotten past Brock. I only got five Pokemon and they're overall pretty weak-ass. At least Ash made it to the final leagues, sure through the power of friendship crap but still further then I've ever gone.

Worst trainer ever is that dick rival in Pokemon Crystal. He doesn't even have a starting pokemon he just steals it, and then can he possibly actually be badass? No he ruins it by being an incredibly shit trainer that can be beaten with no effort. Then he has the guts to blame others which doesn't work like Gary, Gary actually had a bit of skill and had a charm, this rival just tries to be badass and steal things and break laws etc to be cool but gets no where as he just plain isn't.

In terms of the game, every rival trainer. I really always hated the fact that no matter what pokemon you picked, the rival (by rival I'm talking like gary), always picked the type that your pokemon is weak to. Granted I understand some reason why, but it was frustrating. Thats why I always name that things like "douche, asshole, cock"
Ash is by no means the worst. I mean, he's able to beat all the gym leaders with all his unevolved pokemon. He continues to fail at pokemon league because he keeps leaving behind his strongest pokemon and they want to keep making the series as it is still quite popular in it's targeted age group. Seriously, if he came back for all the pokemon he left behind so they could train and shit, he would dominate. Charizard has been at that weird training dragon canyon place for what,5, 6 years now?

Ash has a pikachu which has dominated SOOOOOO many times, and yet he and all his pokemon are KO'ed 3-4 times by Paul. Paul sucks nuts, he thinks he's super strategic, but his pokemon are so resentful, that they'd probably kill him, if given the chance.
