I believed you went down that road too.
Either way, I've made my point good and clear.
Smash brothers wouldn't be such an irritating game to play if it wasn' t the common consensus that the "right" way to play a game is to remove most of the common features that were put into the game to begin with to make the experience as it was original intended.
when virtually most of the fanbase holds in esteem this ritualistic attitude, it putrefies the series and makes it intolerable to play with others.

I think the big problem with your argument is that this isn't even close to true. Again, Super Smash Bros. Brawl sold 9.5 million copies. I'm willing to bet at least 9.45 million of those are people that don't play by tournament rules.

I've never once heard that about the "right" way to play. I've heard stuff like those removal of features, but they're just ways to make the game different and not so repetitive. There is no "right" way like that; it's just ways to spice up gameplay. Making it different, challenging, and above all, just a different way to enjoy Smash Bros.

Yeah, it's really annoying when you can hear them online and pollute the fanbase entirely in game like Call of Duty does.

Maybe if you stopped pulling out the worthless statistics out of your ass and started reading some smash brother forum chats you'd start to see it my way

I actually agree with the OP here. Smash Bros is pretty fun with friends, playing it like a party game. I wouldn't compare it to other fighters, since it's extremely different. And The tourney fag players really give the game a bad name.
Not just tourney fags for Smash Bros, but really for any game. It's just worse for Smash Bros because it's not like there's much skill or technique behind the play, it's just a fun way to beat the shit out of your friends.
Basically people trying to morph a non-competitive game into a Competitive game.

Holy fuck you sound like such a faggot troll. Super smash bros is fun mainly because your playing with your favorate nintendo characters (or at least some of them) and who cares if people take the game seroius. Its a game, why do people take halo or cod seroius? For fun. Fucking dipshit.

How is Ssb not a competitive game? You relize you sound just as retarded as him? How doesn't ssb not take skill? Explain that please.
After reading the thread, I've com to this conclusion; OP is a douche.
Maybe he could have had a good thread filled with discussion, but he just bashed anyone who disagreed with him and called everyone who plays the games like this stupid.
Obvious troll is obvious,
Wow, OP, you seem to get pretty worked up whenever someone disagrees with you. I bet you won't even apologize to Chdonga. May I remind you that this forum is for grown-ups who can respect other peoples' opinions. Run along now and play with your Playstation 360 or whatever they call it these days.
Anyway, I personally don't think playing with or without items makes the game any more enjoyable either way. I don't like to play with items, and neither do most of my friends, so we don't play with items. We don't always play on Final Destination; actually we normally just choose "Random". The game can be a lot of fun and it doesn't matter how you play it. Some people play it competitively, but that's just how they have fun. It's not your place to say who can and can't have fun.
SSBB is a great fighting game but no shit it is not a serious fighting game. if you are looking for one play something on xbox not fucking wii. wii has no serious fighting games.
I can respect why people wouldn't like items, because it may be a lucky break for the player to beat you. But, I do enjoy items, espically with pokeballs and Assist trophies. Because you need to be lucky enough to get the pokeball/assist trophy, and lucky enough to get something useful out of it. So its pretty balanced out if you ask me.

I'M SO SORRY I EVER QUESTIONED THE MIGHTY AUTHORITY OF CHDONGHEAD AND YRTNEJ. I'M SO SORRY THAT A VIDEO GAME FORUM IS INFACT A PLACE FOR GROWN UPS AND FOR SERIOUS DISCUSSIONS. oh wait, no, fuck off.

You certaintly are indeed a hardcore old school gamer if you're so quick to intentionally criticize, dismiss and sarcastically condemn playstation 3. I'm pretty sure I'm no wear near as cool and hip of a video game fan like you for playing atari and intellivision.

It's not your place either prick, my reasons for criticizing those conditions is it's seemingly the only way people like to play. you're a fine example of why video game fans are some of the most offended, defensive, egotistical shitheads in the world.
from the bottom of my heart, eat shit and die.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and Mortal Kombat Armageddon would like a word with you.

How is it not his place to be vocal about his opinion? It really is people like you in this forum that prove how shallow and defensive these 'gamers' are. One small bit of rather over the top criticism and everyone has to get a stick up their ass about it.
If anything, he's proving his points exactly.
K, who the fuck takes games seroius anyway. Obvilously who ever takes fighting games/shooters so seroius has problems. Games aren't sopose to be taken serious, unless you have no life.
Kermit you should just gtfo. Your argument is invalid, and your explainations are just to flame others because they don't agree with you.

I believe you have just described the OP. All he really is doing is flaming other people.

But my point was that they don't represent the majority.
The majority of people playing SSB don't go on forums dedicated to it.

I did, but all I noticed was that you were deviating from the discussion at hand, and proved not to be of any help or productiveness.

Competitive games require balance.
At 1/10/11 12:25 AM, ironraven24 wrote:At 1/9/11 10:46 PM, Chiroz wrote: How is Ssb not a competitive game?Competitive games require balance.
It is balanced. You have the same exact chances as everyone eles to get items.
But if you want it balanced to the core, then just take off items, easy as that. (And play a plain level such as final destination) The character roster is balanced as fuck, you just need skill to use the character.

No I'm not. Some characters may suck because of a couple reasons, but then theres also reasons why their good. Explain why you don't think the characters are balanced. (Btw if you aren't good with them doesn't make the character suck, all are good and bad in some way.)

Typical 12 year old response, riddled with spelling errors and generally makes no sense.
You'd have to be retarded to think that super smash brothers takes any skill whatsoever. Last time I remembered, button mashing isn't a skillful move, if you're looking for game which takes skill, play Marvel vs Capcom or Street Fighter.
