I actually think that this Bob's burger series is gonna be not that bad.

The show has some strong potential in a build of a few of their jokes. The most notable one was the clever camera play during the fire extinguisher interrupting sequence which had me laugh at loud for quite a bit. You don't see camera play like that on animation in prime time.

Not to mention that the show is JAM PACKED with character. The kids are a real saving grace for the show and I hope to see more of them. Bob himself is a nice everyman character with just a bit more edge that the voice actor gives him (who's name I forget at the moment). The Health inspector character is fun and obsessive but felt a little bit wasted and the crematorium gags were disturbingly on point (my girlfriend laughed out loud when Mort put his burger on the place where they dress up the bodies. It was a nice quiet little gag).

The mother's voice needs to be recast, period. She was annoying as shit. I like dick and fart humor, so I didn't mind that there was some vulgarity in it.

All in all, I REALLY enjoyed it and I see a TON of potential for it's future. The children characters look like they'll be fun to watch and I'd love to see more camera play. Just please recast the mom.

I'll give it a couple of episodes before I decide if I don't like it or not. I saw the pilot not too long ago and it's not too bad, really. The characters' conversation sound natural, as if the whole thing is improved. I've definitely seen better, yes, but why are you harping on the fact that it's about a dysfunctional family? Do you really want to watch a show about a normal family? Sounds pretty boring. Not even my family is normal. Anyway, anything with H. Jon Benjamen's voice is a sure thing for me. Maybe the show will develop a cult following like Home Movies did.

I meant to do that on just the first line but didn't realize it until after the fact that I tacked it on the end out of habit.

Saw it; wasn't spectacular, but wasn't abysmal either. There were a few funny gags, but I don't think I'll follow it for more than a few episodes when I'm bored.

Wait they cancelled American dad for this?

Actually, American Dad is the only MacFarlane show that I can enjoy anymore, which to me is a shame because Family Guy used to be my favorite show ever until they ruined it. I honestly think they should have aired Bob in place of the Cleveland Show.

I looked at the picture of the family on the wiki page and the show looks really old (not a bad thing) and the characters don't look very interesting. I'll watch it anyway.

American Dad, as of late, has been funnier than Family Guy IMHO.

American Dad is actually a pretty funny show, it never really beat The Simpsons or some of Family Guy's earlier/middle episodes but the humor usually stays pretty steady and has some really funny moments.

Yes, as far as I know it was Michael Cera's first big role. He played an awkward teen.

Anyway, you mentioned Sit Down, Shut Up, OP. I do remember that show, and I liked it, though I can't say explicitly why, I know it had a lot to do with the fact it had a large sum of the gang from Arrested Development.

Anyway, I'll reserve judgement since I have not seen the pilot yet, but I'm not expecting much. But hearing that this is replacing American Dad is pretty disheartening. I like American Dad and not just in a "its Seth's best show" way. I think its just a really good show.

Anyway anyway, Hopefully Bob's Burgers is good, hopefully it doesn't replace American Dad, and hopefully it replaces The Cleveland Show.

because yours is any better right? I actually like the show and the art is actually pretty good, i don't think anyone here is in any position to say what's good/bad in terms of comedy, half this site;s users loves ego-raptor's whose jokes are shittier then family-guy(ik its possible) and sound like a gay porno with men screaming at the top of their lungs in all of his vids.

I've watched it a couple of times. It's not the worst show ever, but no where near the top of that list.

I don't know how long this thread has been here for, but I've never seen this animator's previous work. I actually like Bob's Burgers - I expected it to be pretty dreadful when I first saw the adverts for it on E4, but it's grown on me. It seems quite off-the-wall at times (definitely the little girl Louise) which is something I love in my comedy - sure, it's pretty low-brow at times, but I can sometimes do with laughing mindlessly at something silly and daft on the television in the morning, or after a long day.
