Why not turn it upside down? Make a christmas song from the perspective of a person who hates christmas. A grinchmas song. Or would that be your normal newgrounds christmas song? Just aksing.

Give us a common song/melody and we each make an arrangement in our own genre/style... anything goes!

Perhaps a song like Jingle Bells, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, or Deck the Hall would be good... I could see that being done in multiple genres. Certain songs are hard to arrange with anything aside from traditional instruments and may pose an interesting challenge to folks.

On the other hand, creating a christmas-themed song (in any way... a symbolic orchestral piece of a winter blizzard or a rap about what's under the wrapping) might be nice.

Christmas songs geared towards flash use, definitely. Remember that you're sponsored by the owner of a flash site.

There's the annual christmas contest for it, isn't it ? It's not a bad idea anyway.

the only problem with that is it'd drastcially reduce contestants - users don't like to sing.. especially if they have to make it up themselves.

I say we make it either original or a cover.

Also I 'm fucking tired.. I'll do it tomorrow.

you'll be allowed to submit either an original or a cover, with more points given if it's an original naturally. I'll make the thread later today.. I'm going to bed hehehe..

Hey what about having just a winter theme? Christmas is boring, winter is a much cooler inspiration source thing

Btw NG always uses a winter skin, not a christmas skin (not an argument lol just an observation)

How about a sasquach/yeti theme for winter? I don't think it is narrow, can be implemented at any genre

So just curious, because the requirement is that there must be vocals, can we use coral Vst's? Cause i don't have money, and they are that expensive for me. And more than likely a lot of other people. Not a really good idea to single out that sort of thing during the time of year where money is being spent on family and friends :\

the goal is to see what you yourself can come up with - we don't care if your voice is shitty, hell you can vocode it if you want - we just want you to TRY.

k so me and brokendeck dueled this out - he wanted vocals to be allowed, I didn't and wanted to make it challenging..

SO WE COMPROMISED.

If you make an ORIGINAL winter/christmas song you can make it non-vocal - however if you do a christmas carol COVER or REMIX that HAS vocals in it - then your rendition HAS to have vocals.

ANNOUNCEMENT

This is going to be my LAST NAC.

This past year, especially in the beginning first couple of months of the NACs, have been a real learning experience for me, and not only in how to help run and organize an audio contest ;)

It has been a colorful year for me. I've had a wonderful time listening to many great audio submissions, both from veteran NG users, and from bright newcomers just starting to spread their musical wings.

But the NACs are Chronamut's baby, not mine. Since early-mid 2011 to be honest, I have been involved in less and less NAC related duties, and to be perfectly honest, I don't have much contributing input anymore.

I'll still be around occasionally to help out if needs be, but I think it's inaccurate to consider me a NAC contest runner any longer.

Best of luck to everyone and Chronamut.

P.S. With this in mind, there will be no Orchestral based NAC slated for January 2012. Feel free to suggest to Chronamut ideas for a January NAC.

Better darn be an orchestral contest by someone at some point... that's the reason I started learning to compose... the 2009 one where you had to arrange some lovely little melody into a full piece.

*threatens to rage-quit composing*
